"Amazing" hardly does him justice! Astounding - astonishing - incredible . . . each an apt choice to describe M. Alu! I was awed by his second performance from "Manon," the one in black - a perfect marriage of dancing skills and acting skills - my introduction to this ballet. Ab-so-lute-ly incredible! Bravo! This performance from "Manon" reminds me Ekaterina Maximova playing Eliza Doolittle in the ballet "Galatea," which is based on George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion. In the ballet version Eliza is taken in by a ballet instructor who endeavors to teach her how to dance properly. And long waited. It was about time to promote him principal. He’s a fantastic dancer but sometimes off the traditional codes which makes part of his talent. But the Paris Opera School is so conservative…. They made him pay for his originality.

@Catherine COZZANDO I didn't know that. He is very original, though surely that is good thing. I thought only the Mariinsky did that (with, say, Shakirova or Maria Bulanova). But being classical and conservative only gives you promotions, has nothing to do with the talent, Plisetskaya w was very original, nearly all great dancers are.

He's not as slender as most of the French guys and I LOVE that about him! Dancers like Alu remind us that what is most important is the quality of movement, NOT the thinness of the body. Too many people celebrate the instrument instead of the music that comes out of it! I also love his shaved head! It's distracting to try to hide a balding pate. I find him to be a beautiful, dynamic dancer with great sex appeal. I suspect he knows it too! ;-)

I'm glad he's finally Étoile. He's an incredible dancer and he's a rare breed at the POB. Charismatic, great performer,actor and very good technique. He finally got his due. His situation almost reminds me of Emmanuel Thibault.

It has been 25 years since I was at Garnier, watching the company. I was lucky enough to be able to sit in the Presidential Box , along with two people whom I met in line. Yes in line not Online for all you youngsters. What an incredible night that was. Thank you so much for taking me back to Palais Garnier for this new étoile 🌟 From beginning to end I was captivated by his dance. Oh how I wish I could see them again live. Alas that cannot happen. But so many thanks for bringing these snippets of Alu dancing.💕🙏🌟

Nureyev really raised the bar in that company. In the 70s i heard some dancers talking about how he had to pull his Kingdom of Shades from them because they were not performing it to standard.

What a pleasure to watch from the beginning to the end! The WOW!- humorous drunken dance is not to be missed!!! He is SO musical! He has charisma! He changes appropriately from role and style to style! He is exact, while also dancing with great gusto... (The two, exactness and energetic gusto, don't always go together in other dancers). Congratulations Francois Alu and Paris Opera Ballet! Thank you Bundu Ballerina for another well-designed compilation, introducing him to us and giving us a compelling reason to visit Paris again.
