such a terrible waste of time and resources. the wing looks to be very well constructed and looks very nice. but it can't possibly succeed. notice how at the end of the video the pilot was exhausted just from the attempt to take off. lets THINK about the physics of this. consider those gymnastic rings that some athletes use. one of the hardest positions to hold is to have your arms straight out from your sides and supporting your whole weight. how long can you hold that pose? now add a backpack full of weights equivalent to the weight of this wing. now how long can you hold this position? unless you are a trained/conditioned athlete you won't be able to do this at all. and a really strong athlete will only be able to do it for a few seconds. or another way of thinking about this, how many pull-ups can you do? can you do a thousand pull-ups with a backpack on your back? can you do them at 20 times per second? but this is exactly what you are trying to accomplish with your flapping wing, only in fact the wing requires even more effort to move and control than hanging on the rings or doing pull-ups. you can never succeed with this. basic human anatomy is against you. our arms are not strong enough to support our body weight in this fashion. also this design is not exactly new. I've seen old films dating back to the 1800's of people making similar devices. learning a little bit of history about the development of flight, might just keep you from killing yourself as many of the pioneers did while they were trying to figure it out. I am all for reinventing the wheel if it has a reasonable chance improve on what we already have, or at least be a learning experience that leads to a better understanding of the existing technology. but this project appears to offer neither an increase in knowledge or an improved design. instead it ignores over 100 years of knowledge that has been accumulated often at great cost.

Unlike birds and bats (and insects), we lack the necessary "muscle" for this type of exercise! If we want to be airborne, we have to be born with a body of pure muscle! :O
