This might not work for some as it jsut makes waves but if it only makes waves you can do a thing where you search other no electricity air pump and do that one, but if you still have this one instead hang it of the side of the tank, grab any plastic container that's waterproof, add some sponges on the bottom (size will differ according to size of pump) on top of the sponges add some aquarium filter stones, then on the bottom of the plastic container make 3 holes, get straws, cut till only the tip of the straw, either stick in the straw or for better results glue gun the tip. This isn't a one things filter and oxygen thing I'm pretty sure, but having a filter without electricity would be cool. Hope this helps, for more about no electrical pump keep searching till it kinda becomes a underwater pump with bubbles 🤔👍

its cause the bottle is air tight.. So as the water exits the bottom a suctions effects happens at the top which pulls the water from the tank upwards through the hose.. As matter is always trying to fill up a vacuum of space..... It will eventually stop tho........ As the rate of water exiting the bottom will be faster then water entering.

Hate to break it to you...but this works...for a little while. Weight of the water falling inside the bottle creates vacuum to pull air (or water in this case) in through the top hole. Would stop eventually because more water is exiting than entering, so the water level would eventually drop. Some people aren't smart enough to see it, so you'll either have to try it, or take our word for it. Remember, the fittings have to be all AIRTIGHT

Is there a hydraulic equation I can use to calculate the how much water is needed in the soda bottle? It doesn't work in that set up. But when you have tank or container and it's water is a little bit higher than the aquarium it will work. The water will flow until the level of water decreases, the water flow slows down until it stop..
