Thanks Ian. Yes why indeed? Funnily enough it's not somewhere I particularly wanted to go. It just came up and seemed like a good idea at the time. It just shows that sometimes we need to break away from our own tunnel vision and see what else is out there.

Thanks Marilyn. With the right clothes on we never really felt cold. You know how much I love the south west but Norway 🇳🇴. Well. It was an amazing experience I'd recommend to anyone.

Thanks for the great video. Just on P&O Aurora as I type, on our way to Åndalsnes tomorrow. Very much looking forward to experiencing these stunning views for ourselves. 😊

We did the husky sledging trip in Tromso. It was an amazing experience. It was March when we did it though. You'll probably not get much daylight being so close to the shortest day. I'd be interested to hear what shore days are like in darkness.

@@JoeCoastal We did the northern lights coach trips in Tromsø and Alta. Unfortunately cloudy nights on both trips got the better of us on both days. However we did get a few good sighting of the northern lights we few evenings from the ship, and the ship had a dedicated TV channel for anybody that wanted to get notified of NL activity in their cabins over night. The lack of daylight didn’t take away from the magic of Norway in any way. Everything in Norway just seems to carry on as normal during the dark days. I guess it’s business as usual here, even with -12C temperatures during the day! There’s still a few hours of dusky light from around 12:00 to 13:30. However almost all houses have Christmas lights, which are on 24 hours a day which mitigates the darkness.

This is a fantastic video from Åndalsnes and Nesaksla and the views. I have been there a few times myself but never in snow. Your pronounciation is very good too 😊 I am happy you had the possibility to get up there in reasonably good weather so you got good views of the area.Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to the following videos, both from Norway and Cornwall 😊

@@JoeCoastal yes, I was there during summer 😊 I was in St. Ives and around in that area in January and had some snow 😁 Quite different from summer.

You were fortunate to see it in this part of the world as we are on the same gulf stream as your country. I wonder what you thought when everything shuts down when we get a couple of inches of the white stuff. In Alta we had a drive of an hour to a trip and the coach was on thick snow the whole way. I'm a bus driver here and I know that I wouldn't be expected to go out in those circumstances. That's what's so special about this trip. It really is a different world to us. I know you love my part of the world so now we are equal 😁

@@JoeCoastal it was really something different for me with snow in Cornwall. It didn't last for long, but I got the opportunity to ascend Trencrom Hill, not so far from Hayle, and I got the lovely view of the snow powdered St. Agnes Beacon and the whiteish fields down to St. Michael's Mount by Marazion. I can understand that you cannot keep expensive equipment to plow the roads for snow, when it happens so seldom. And it takes some experience too, to drive safely. Better to just shut down for a few days till it goes away by itself 😁 In Norway we always change the tires when the temperatures drop. Far North in Alta they are very much used to snow so they have to learn how to deal with it. As we do in many other areas too. I really like to visit other countries in different seasons, just to get a better knowledge and authentic feel 😄 Yes, now we know each others coutried a bit better. And you are very welcome back here any time. 😊

It was minus something but there's a saying about there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes for weather. We had plenty of warning and were prepared. Yes it was cold but if this is all the commitment I need to see such breathtaking sights, then count me in every time.

Amazing video 👏 did you need to purchase snow boots for walking in the snow ? Or do normal boots suffice please ? 😁
@JoeCoastal
@JoeCoastal Ай бұрын
My wife used a pair of boots she already had and as we wasn't out in it for extended periods she got by OK. I did pick up a fairly inexpensive pair of snowboots from decathlon sports that along with warm socks kept my feet nice and warm.
