LOVE this!!! We've owned our '65 911 for 34 years (#'s matching, very original) and converted it to a race car in '01. Without a doubt it is the most challenging and rewarding car I've ever had the pleasure to drive. No ABS, no PDK, no nannies at all, it's all between the seat and the steering wheel and VERY demanding, but when you throw it into a corner trail braking and throttle steering through and accelerate out ahead of the pack with the tail just slightly hanging out, it's pure bliss! Hope you got your car back on the track, I look forward to more videos!

For sure, modern cars, brakes, and trims, takes more quick reflexes, 'cause of quicker reactions. But talking about fun... totally agree with you. Especially 'bout old version of Porsche, with their powerdrift tendency, exiting corners. But, you see, there are even "worse" examples, like that old Mustang: its 4,7L engine, on a track, can disfrute all its horsepower only in the straight... but has a lot of undesteer, like at 7:28, on that uphill corner

@alamos85 жыл бұрын
I always saw that on track, each car pays for his own damage, not for the other's, even if you are guilty. But maybe they have some sort of special insurance, being classic cars. That is one of the teasons I don't really do trackday with my own car, too many testosterone-inflated boys trying to show-off on the car groups where I move into

Driver should not have un-belted for two reasons. One, you could tell the damage was very slight and this driver should have planned to get right back underway as soon as they righted him. Second is that he might have been hit by another car while sitting there. Tons of violent oversteer means this driver has a great sense of balance, but could be WAY more efficient.

@timphoto83ec4 жыл бұрын
Im sorry i just don't get the 911. Handling looks terrible to me. The little TZ up front was very composed through the corners and the 911 was all over the place trying to keep up. On track i have had more 911's spin off in front of me than any other car i have chased around a track.
@johncary43024 жыл бұрын
No, you’re right. The engine is in the wrong place. Combine that with early Porsche technology and the fact that the tires are also terrible and the driver seems to want to hammer on the throttle too hard, I’m honestly surprised he didn’t crash sooner. It’s a shame that Porsche kept developing the 911 to a point now where it is able to overcome its disabilities as a rear engined car because at a certain point physics will not allow it to keep up with mid engined technology, and it will always be an underdog to such cars.
@daos33002 жыл бұрын
in another reality, where i'm in charge of (or at least highly influential in) development at porsche, the 911 gives up any pretence of being a '+2' and the engine and transaxle get flipped 180°. formula vee figured it out a long time ago.
