Amazing Orangutan Mother Plays With Her Daughter

Heartwarming playful interaction between mother and daughter in this video of the Sumatran Orangutan family at Chester Zoo
Doting mother Emma is in a very playful and active mood as she and her daughter play quite rough with each other, 3 year old Hillda seems to enjoy the rough and tumble games played with her mom and ends it with a quick suckle from her, before the pair move off to join the rest of the family. When they reach the others - Subis and Arga, Emma playfully hands upside down, while Hillda gazes up at her from the rocks below !
It is common to see the young orangutans play in this manor but rarely the adult mothers, so what adelight this was to observe
Recorded in June 2024 this is current footage of the wonderful Sumatran Orangutan family at the world famous Zoo - Chester Zoo Hillda no longer has the wild and crazy hair she had as a baby, but will get thicker and longer as she matures like her sisters who have beautiful chestnut coloured thick hair
Sumatran Orangutans are Endangered
Sumatran Orangutans are an endangered species of Great Ape, threatened to the edge of extinction, due to the ongoing destruction of the Environment in their native homeland of The Indonesian Island of Sumatra. The destruction of their native forests is largely to make way for the planting of palm oil, which is used in the manufacture of many products in developed nations, such as food products and cleaning products.
Baby Orangutans at Chester Zoo
Chester Zoo is the only Zoo in the UK to House and Care for Sumatran Orangutans. They are part of the breeding program for this important and vulnerable species, ensuring there is a strong genic population in zoos and wildlife centres across the world, essential for the future survival of these magnificent animals.
These rare Sumatran Baby Orangutans are absolutely adorable and so much fun to watch, Young Sumatran Orangutans interact with each other and learn from the behaviours of other Orangutans in their Family group.

Yes, a mother's love is such a special thing; it's why I don't like dairy cows being separated from their calves. I was blessed with my mother's love and breastfeeding and wish that same love for all God's creatures.

I find it perplexing, at times how some times they can appear as if they have 'spent time in the salon, and at other times look as though they have been 'dragged through a hedge, backwards' I wonder if there is a natural tendency for long hair to 'comb itself'.
