Was hoping to see some Frank Howard homers on here. I know he went completely out of the stadium in Dodger stadium, over the left field roof in Tiger Stadium, and, completely out of Yankee Stadium. I saw him hit a 420' line drive homer to dead center field in Arlington in 1972, that never got more than 20' high. It had already landed before he was even close to getting to first base. He has at least one documented (not guessed) 560' shot. Oh yeah, no steroids, either. This guy was a beast 1958-1973.

I was in North Carolina at the time. Could always rely on the Cubs for day baseball while playing at Wrigley. Helped kill a couple summers during high school breaks. Cubs sported a very good Bill Buckner at first base before his infamous BOSOX mistake in 86' against the Mets. Hopefully the SOX have forgiven him after all these years.

....or "The Toy Cannon" Jimmy Wynn's legendary blast out of old Crosley field in Cincinnati that landed on the freeway and hit the cars! Plus, Don Mattingly hitting the facade in right field, ala Mickey Mantle, in "old" Yankee Stadium (sounds weird to say now.) My favorite Big Fly's are always Cecil Feilder's on-or-over the roofers in Detroit...or,of course, Reggie Jackson's mammoth shot that hit the tranformer in right (just 3 feet) from going out in Detroit in the 1971 All-Star Game....they're all great, can't have em' all...

Some of those shots out of AT&T are questionable. Just 309 down the right field line and 365 to on right with no bleachers, just a wall and there's the street and river. That park was built for these things to happen.

'Dig' the groovy Scatman - perfect for this video! Nothing from Mark McGwire? Back in the days when I played cricket at school, anyone scoring a six was also 'out'. If anyone hit the ball out of the playing field into someone's garden they had to go round and fetch it! LONG walk, too. Taught us to be circumspect in our attitude to playing versus simply showing off. Happy days. :-)

@mattpetrosky36910 жыл бұрын

Those shots Fielder hit were epic. Only 4 men ever hit a ball over the left field roof, at Tiger Stadium. Harmon Killebrew did it first, in 1962. Frank Howard did it, in 1968. Fielder did it twice and Mark McGwire did it. Of those 5 HR, only Howard hit it high enough to clear the roof (all the others bouncing off of it). That is a titanic shot!!! And Fielder was the only player to hit one out of Milwaukee County Stadium. EVER! Agreed, that the players you mention hit some blasts of major proportion. But, please don't slight Cecil, Dunn and Thome. They were as strong as could be. Those HR Bonds hit, in SF, were nothing. Never would have gone over the RF roof of Tiger Stadium. Lots of guys hit HR, in the water, in SF.

Somebody please explain to me why ANY of Barry Bonds homeruns are in this video. The Pac Bell/AT&T Park was built to give left handed hitters, especially Bonds an advantage. Only 309 down the right field line and 365 to right field. Easy for even a medicore hitter to hit them totally out to right in San Francisco. Why not put Gorman Thomas hitting one out of County Stadium, or Greg Luzinski or Ron Kittle hitting the ball over the left field roof in Old Comiskey Park? What Bonds did is not impressive in the least.
