I still dont know how to count the beats. And at the most I can only focus on 2 instruments. Any help on how to improve.

As long as you enjoy it.. you don't have to bother about the technicalities.. :) the beats are counted based on the "valam thala".. and I am sure you cannot focus on all 5 instruments simultaniously..

Yes. Ppl will get better with time. No one is born as expert :) If you happen to speak to artists, you will understand a bit more. But not everyone will be able to explain in layman's language. You can utilise art related FB groups for asking your questions too..
