For me, Slovakia is a very xenophobic country (racial discrimination). I am traveling around the world now, and I have been traveling from Western Europe all the way to Eastern Europe. I have hardly received any racial discrimination in other countries (I am a yellow person). But when I came to Slovakia, I could feel it very clearly. After getting off the bus from Vienna to Bratislava, a local told me how to get there. At first I thought he was very enthusiastic, but he gave me a completely opposite route, and he kept expressing something in a language I couldn't understand (not English). The second thing was that when I was wandering around the Bratislava Castle, I saw a local swearing at all non-white tourists. This is what I think of this country.

Sadly, Yes... We are a racist country, but also I am surprised your exprience, because increase of racist thoughts in Slovakia is mostly caused by european migration crisis and political populism. Racist comments what I hear around is always against Arabic or African people. I never hear any negative words against Asians. Slovakia has also a community of Vietnameese people and they are very well integrated in society. So I'm sorry for your bad exprience and I hope that one day we will have a chance to repair our reputation 😊

@@martyn.89you don’t have to apologise for a couple of racist idiots who are probably not even representative of your country. Similarly, it doesn’t mean your people are inherently racist just because some random tourist got pranked by a local. People need to stop being so sensitive: if you travel the world, you need to accept that there are good and bad people out there. Hopefully, you won’t meet many of the bad ones but if you do, just chalk it up to experience and get on with your day.
