This would be good advertising for places and places if they were pronounced correctly, bring in a Swede who can explain how to pronounce names, otherwise it is a good tourist info
@bjornh4664

Yes, the pronounciation is very much hit or miss in this video. Some of the places were only identifiable by the footage, as the pronounciation was garbled. Case in ppoint: at 8:50 "the famous town of Ha". It's "Hjo", pronounced pretty much like "you", which is not least reflected in the local tourist board's slogan "I love Hjo".
@efrosinap
@efrosinap 2 жыл бұрын
The beauty of Sweden is breathtaking! However, most of the names of the places don't sound the way they are pronounced in Swedish at all. You could have probably used a recording with the correct pronunciation and then follow with your description.

As someone who just have learned Swedish for two months now, I can say it is often very difficult to pronounce Swedish names correctly, take for example Uppsala. :D Please be a little forgiving of us foreign speakers! Having said that, it is very usual in English language to spell and pronounce foreign places the English way - I experienced the same in my home country, Germany. For example people call "München" Munich or "Köln" Cologne. The "Brandenburger Tor" is often named "Brändenbürg Gate". But I'm okay with that. Most of the time I find a English accent when it comes to pronounce German words quite lovely. :-D

As a Swedish woman I say - Yes Sweden is wonderful to adore ABBA or Zlatan and visit for its landscapes, but nowadays it´s a growing misery to live here. No one got the money anymore, Sweden is the most dangerous criminal country in Europe and got the highest unemployment - everything is getting worse and worse, specially in Gothenburg and Malmö --- at Eastern 193 police got wounded by women and their kids throwing stones at them. 49 of those men got wounded at their brain, otherwise even children get killed like the 12 year old girl who took a morning walk with her doggy and got totally ragged through from the back .... and when evening comes women like me won´t dare to leave their homes anymore

As a Swede myself, I would say that you should skip Malmö and rather check out nearby Lund. Visby, on the island of Gotland, should be high up on the list too. I would like to add the accessibilty of nature to the gems of Sweden: As long as you leave nature as it was, i.e. don't litter or damage anything, you are free to roam anywhere in nature, regardless of who owns the land.

@@erik.... as an invandrare living in Värmland I love Stockholm too and visited it 3 or 4 times during the last 2 years. I love the high coast too by the way. But in the case you propose, somebody visiting Sweden for the very first time and willing to see what makes Sweden special, I think the 'need' to see Stockholm is distracting from the 'real thing'. I would recommend North Värmland, Dalarna, Jämtland, High Coast instead, if possible Lappland. Stockholm is very nice within Sweden but is quite far from the really special nature and on European scale not thst outstanding. To see a really beautiful city visit Budapest, Rome, Tallinn, Vilnius..... But one should not argue om taste is a proverb in my mother tongue, so I understand also your opinion to visit Stockholm. As said Stockholm is really nice and there is a lot to see.

But you also shared clips from Abisko National Park. I can recommend the city of Kalmar, which is located at the bridgehead to Öland. Kalmar is an old city that breathes a lot of history and is actually counted as Sweden's most restaurant-dense city. Cozy cobblestone streets, beautiful nature and more sunny days than the west coast.
