I intend on doing this sort of look to an outdoor wooden table of mine, then once all the paint is dry, sealing it with a clear exterior grade food safe resin or sealer. I was thinking on how to go about this. Do I just put on paint, let it dry, then chip some of it off? Do I leave it in the sun and rain and let it get the weather from being in the weather? But I did decide on something much like what you're doing here. My plan is to make each individual plank of my wooden table a slightly different colour, then rough it up a little bit, before covering it with my clear sealer. I wouldn't worry about this step if it was going to be inside. Thank you for your inspiration and ideas :)

I love your work!! But I am so cofused as to when and when not to use primer. Isnt boss primer? I thought that you didn't have to use primer when using chalk paint?

Cathy Leslie BOSS is to block odors or if you are painting white it helps prevent bleed Thru , I used it because this piece is old and musty. You are correct though you don’t need a primer in most situations however you can use a blocking primer (boss) for smells

think of B.O.S.S. as more of a problem solver, Bleed thru or blocking smells, its not a primer because you are correct if you were painting a piece that didn't smell lets say black, you wouldn't need to use this.
