I would have watched ½ an hour on any one of these themes. I don't normally get all 'rapturous' about videos on KZbin, but a 'selection box' video on satellite pictures? The only thing that would have made it better, for me at least, would have been if it'd been a bit longer. Definitely one to 'cut out and keep'...

Glad you enjoyed it! Was thinking of doing a series like this (Rivers edition, Forest edition, etc), but kind of disappointed with the views so far...

@@geogviz man keep at it, ive been following you for over a year and your stuff is getting better all the time. Your arc reminds me of a channel I follow called Horses, that guy made essays for 3 years and had like 2k followers, but one day the algorithm smiled upon him and he exploded. So keep it up and I'll be here when you cross 100k subs

Great vid! The explosive urban growth and heat islands would be cool to have in depth videos on.

this is super cool. some of the maps you have to remember that the graphs and representations are using color scale; easy to forget when you're looking at these maps with a hard-on for geography. The transitions between each map could use a little more of a heads up, but otherwise, this channel has done a lot in a small amount of time. Looking fwd to the channel growing in both popularity and allocated funds for more frequency of content uploads. Def. lmk if I can help spread the word about your channel. -Subscriber

Great video! The urban light section is great. Corellation with population is striking. Does Las Vegas really put out several times as much light per resident than other U.S. cities?

Nice video👍. I never knew about fog holes over big cities shown in first. I also like the city expansion comparisons between years. I would also like to suggest, if possible, could you do a similar type of video with satellite imagery but just with focus on different cities of world. For eg:- the night view of Berlin where we can see 2 different street lights from above in east and west side due to division of Germany, or expansion of cities like Dubai, Brasilia or other fastest-growing cities which were just towns a few decades ago, or areas where lights and development has reduced from before due to wars.

That island in Shanghai is where the Chinese are building their Navy. It’s the largest shipyard in the world. Go look at it.

Good stuff! Were the four pictures on the last image at the same scale? Also what were the locations? Looks like congress and the colosseum, other two an aircraft carrier and a power station/ ski slope(?) at unknown locations. Be good to have a scale on the other images, even if briefly.

The ski slope next to what is actually a former steel mill is called Big Air Shougang, and it was the venue for the big air events at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing

@@CheetahLynx Wow! If even _China,_ who has made just about everything I have in my house, is shutting down her steel mills like everyone else, is _anybody_ making steel any more?! Perhaps China is just closing steel mills like the one in the picture in favour of better, _bigger_ steel mills?!
