Amazing Scratch and Engineering in F-35B 1/48 from Kitty Hawk

This is 6th model of a friend of mine, and as you can see it features amazing amount of engineering and scratch build skills. This guy is relatively new to the hobby but has showed one hell of a set of skills. Honestly, knowing Kitty Hawk F-35B and the fact that the model is relatively mediocre in quality and accuracy, I thought that he couldn't pull that one off. He was lacking painting skills too, which as you can see for yourself have improved enormously and his painting is now flawless. Decals are perfect, and the whole thing itself is amazingly complex to be build.
F-35 is his favorite jet, because it is modern, a stealth technology and comes from USA. I think he did an amazing job building it!

Isn't this what scale modelling is all about today. ? All the etched metal parts, cast resin, and aftermarket raw materials that have become available. Not to mention all the images that we could only get in books are readily available on that super fast highway of the internet. Inspiring stuff for sure. I love it. ?

If this was brought to any modelling show it would likely be a runner up in the large aircraft categories by the merit of the detail alone, with all the wonderful scratch building in the weapons bays and around the engine, as well as photorealistic accuracy to the real plane in both build and painting. However, with the functionality taken into consideration, this jet would be capable of winning best in show awards at model show after model show... unbelievable work.

wow worda true joy to beholds cannot describe this miraculous piece of micro engineering - nobody EVER complain about a Kittyhawk model again. this has to be the best model I have ever had the privilege to see. Thank you for sharing

Yeah, thanks for the positive comments & likes! And all this is thanks to Mitko :) Indeed there are few things that stay closed: the canopy; the boarding ladder; the panel for ground refueling; the air refueling pod; the doors for chaffs/flares; the doors for the engine start up exhaust, and that`s pretty much it. Yet the plane became wicked evil.

Do whatever it takes to get this guy to either start his own model company or maybe Zoeki would possibly hire him seeing how his detail work is on the same plain as Zoekis and maybe Tamiya or a new Chinese company or someone like that super detail multi media company which builds cars,(Hiro) would be interested in starting a new company to build modern jets with this level of detail and engineering,if I can do anything to help please look me up in Facebook or message me here,love your work,and his.

Did he make holes for the hinges or are they all connected with magnets too? and how did he scratchbuilt that exhaust? ps. Very Impressive!

Thx! The magnets attract the "doors" while the hinges keep the "doors" to the plane while open. The exhaust was quite difficult honeslty - a copletely renewed pipe in 3 pieces with 3 peripheral bearings. Then the cables and the other stuff are just for cosmetic improvement - of course some good reference pics are indispensable. :)

details are excellent but the moving parts are not realistic at all, you don`t have to take out the engine for vtol or rigid torsion links of the oleo strut and all those magnets ... :/ you can use small pieces of double sided tape or something else. For me It seems like everything's falling apart. but hey is just a feedback for next models, nice job btw :)

10x :) There are just 3 modes - parked, in STOVL and in flight. The transition "activities" in between don`t count :P :)
