Of all the GospelChops from bassists this is the best. There's everything going on: Action, Drama, even Comedy! They're not trying to show Mommy all this stuff they can play, just being true to the Music at the time. And these guy's are genuinely having fun!

I just can’t get my bass to sound like this, what am I doing wrong???? Is it the tuning or some kind of gadget they are using???
@TheRealGospelChops5 жыл бұрын
What is your bass/rig? These guys are playing custom basses.
@SmoothbassmanStudios4 жыл бұрын
You don't need a custom rig to get a great bass sound. My Ibanez SRM806, with my MarkBass Little Mark III, on a 4-10 Peavey Cab with a high frequency tweeter, sounds just as good when I have new strings on it.

There's no money playing any of the frets, but yeah, it's called BASS for a REASON.
@gimmeagig10 жыл бұрын
Whatever happened to playing bass solos that have at least SOME low notes in them? I know the guys are good, but If I wanted to just hang around in that range I'd probably pick up a guitar. There's a saying: On bass there is no money above the 5th fret. You should probably owe money if you play on the C string above the 12th fret.:)
@jazzatnight10 жыл бұрын
Haha! I understand that ' bassic' philosphy. I guess these players took a loan out to play in these upper registers! I remember when I first heard Stanley Clarke back in the 70's, I never knew that a bass could reach those high notes.
@catboyzee9 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I'm a multi-instumentalist, and I pretty much avoid bass guitars that have 24 frets or more for that reason. If I want to hear treble clef I'll play a piano or a guitar...
@keithlambson9 жыл бұрын
gimmeagig Normally I'd agree with you on playing some low notes. In this case where they have two players with one laying down a bass line and the other soloing, playing in that lower register would just get muddy. Agreed on those low notes though. Although, I do like the treble tones coming out of bass.
@SupermanStandifer9 жыл бұрын
+Keith Lambson exactly.. that's exactly why they avoided many low notes during their solos.. But people feel the need to complain no matter what you do just to tell you they can do it too...
@ReedBass9 жыл бұрын
+gimmeagig Players like John Patitucci and Anthony Jackson get called because of how they play on 6 string bass, including their solos. Surely the most important thing is if they're making good music?
