The Donald Glover scene was a crazy full circle moment. Bendis designed Miles after Donald Glover after seeing Glover dressed up as Spidey on the show Community. Glover had been sneaking in Spider-man references as part of his campaign to play Spider-man, something that started as a gag in his stand-up. Glover would later get to voice Miles in the cartoons and of course, played the MCU's Uncle Aaron in Homecoming who would later become the Prowler as you saw here. PS - Please watch Community ❤

This is like my favourite animated movie of all time. And Emme, there’s a few Easter eggs in the movie such as the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 game, and the Spider-Man No Way Home movie reference. If you haven’t read the Spider-Gwen comics, Peter actually did turn into the Lizard since he didn’t become Spider-Man on Earth-65. Fun fact about this movie, a fourteen year old kid, who built the Spider-Man LEGO, helped the team animate the LEGO Spider-Man universe.

"I didn't think they were different in age" In this movie I don't think they are by much. She's like 16 when he's 15 or something like that. In the original comics though I'm pretty sure she's like 3 years older than him. Spider senses mostly detect threats. Miles isn't a threat to Gwen so as long as he doesn't get too close she shouldn't be able to sense him that way.

theres a theory that the reason they cant catch miles is that most of the spidermen dont like how miguel does things, what supports this is spiderhorse is telepathically linked to its rider, meaning he could have kicked miles off but that spiderman let him ride the horse

The fact they showed that people (or spiders) in universes not their own glitch out in the first film and yet most people didn't expect the twist at the end of the film is just consistently insane to me. The first we see the spider in the first film it glitches. But it just blanks your mind until the realization sets in. There's also ALL the other visual easter eggs, from the colors, to the in world brands, etc. in Earth 42 as opposed to 1610, but still. It's just absolutely insane how many details, obvious or subtle, your mind can ignore when it's just caught up in the story.

Obligatory post about how the Lego universe wasn't originally in the movie. When the first trailer for this movie was released, a high school kid decided to redo in Lego animation just for fun. The directors loved it so much they asked him to create and animate a scene for the movie, and... what you saw is the result. Insane.

I'll be honest, that to be continued _gutted_ me, too. I'm glad that they're able to give themselves more room to work with for it, though, so... I really can't be upset there. I'll take waiting a year for it over it being a rushed, half-assed ending. I'll say, though, Hobie is my favorite character. Schnee did a great video about him, which I highly recommend, and he legitimately tricks us through all of this. He so convincingly puts forward such an intense facade of being just this... ridiculous mess of a character through so much of the movie, but by the end, you realize just how hard he's playing the game all along, using his facade to fly under not only Miguel's radar but even our own as the audience. The other thing I'll say is that I don't think that Earth 42 Miles is a bad guy. A lot of the stuff around that New York makes it look as though the villains won in that dimension. The Sinister Six Cartel, and all of the businesses with villain names attached to them. I think he's doing what he can with what he has... which is the Prowler equipment. I mean, when The Spot is talking about stealing the spider from another dimension, we see it on its way toward someone who looks just like that Earth's Miles. I'm really excited to see how it all plays out, honestly. It's just too bad that its end-of-March release date has been scrapped. I just hope it still comes out this year.

Information on a few characters: *Miguel O'Hara (Earth-928)* Miguel O'Hara the Spider-Man of Earth-928 active in the year 2099 as Spider-Man. He made his first debut in Spider-Man 2099 #1 (1992) introducing a possible alternate future reality of Prime Marvel, Earth-616 the Mainline Marvel universe. Within this reality the world was embroiled in a massive civil war between humans and mutants sometime during the Age of Hero's. Following years of fighting, the humans won the war, but suffered tremendous losses. Peter Parker as Spider-Man being one of the hero's killed during this conflict who's legacy would later be carried on by Miguel O'Hara decades later as Spider-Man of 2099. *Hobart Brown (Earth-138)* Hobart Brown the Spider-Man of Earth-138 was a rebellious teenager who fights against the fascist regime of President Ozzy Osborn with his Spider Army made up of everyday people wanting to fight for change. Fun fact in the Mainline Marvel Continuity of Earth-616 Hobart Brown was the original Prowler introduced in 1969. When the Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610) was introduced in 2000 with Ultimate Spider-Man they introduced a new Prowler with Aaron Davis in 2011 along with Miles and his family. In the Ultimate Universe Aaron Davis is the first Prowler. Miles universe in these films is known as Earth-1610 as well, inspired heavily by the Ultimate Universe from the comics but with a few changes that don't match up with the comics. So to separate Spider-Verse Miles universe from Comics Miles they retconned his Earth to Earth-1610B so they don't overlap with each other. *Jessica Drew (Earth-404)* The Spider-Woman we see in this film is actually a variant of her character from the comics. From being depicted as Black woman to having a more biker themed outfit it's a very interesting design change that works really well as a cool variant of an existing character, like the many variants of Loki. The Jessica Drew of the comics exists on Earth-616 on Marvel's Mainline Universe. She has a long complex history but overtime she became Spider-Woman. Comic Drew also got pregnant as well this being the bases of the pregnant variant we see in this film. *Ben Reilly (Earth-94)* The Ben Reilly we see in this film is also a variant like Spider-Woman but visually he's 100% the same as his Earth-616 counterpart just much more over the top, making fun of the very 1990s edgy comics at the time. Earth-94 is also a fun nod to his first appearance as The Scarlet Spider introduced in 1994. Ben himself is a clone of Peter Parker who dyed his hair blonde and went on to become The Scarlet Spider. Long story but he showed up in the Clone Saga in the 1970s when a villain Cloned Gwen after her death and also Peter Parker. The Peter Clone was "killed" but later returned in the 1990s Clone Saga and given the name Ben Reilly.

@emme reacts, 37:36 Doesn't this scene remind you of the first movie when Miles found Peter? Miles brought Peter to Uncle Aaron's apartment and tied him to the same punching bag. Miles didn't know what was going on--a man he watched die was alive and looking for him. Uncle Aaron dropped a hint when he asked about Miles' hair--he knew the person he was looking at wasn't his Miles in the same way Miles knew Peter B. Parker wasn't his Peter Parker. While things look bad, I don't think Uncle Aaron is bad in this universe, I don't think Miles is either. I think Uncle Aaron is this universe's man in the chair for Universe 42 Miles. What has this movie (and the MCU) taught us about the Multiverse and variants in the Multiverse? It has taught us that the Multiverse is an infinite copy of the same universe with variations. This story laid out that Spider-Man exists in every universe, well, he's supposed to. We saw that Peter Parker is usually always Spider-Man, but when you're playing with a large number like infinity and variations, that opens the door for Variants of Spider-Man and that's why we are seeing other People having the job of Spider-Man, men, women of all shapes and sizes and at various points in their lives. Becoming Spider-Man is never the choice of the person who becomes Spider-Man, that choice is made for them by the radioactive spider that endows them with powers, save for Miguel, who's actually the real anomaly, as he made himself a Spider-Man, and that likely explains why he doesn't have spider-sense. Universe 42's spider bit 1610 Miles because it was always going to bite Miles! We watched it travel all around New York in the first movie and it could have bit anyone, yet it sought Miles out because he was always the target. Yes, 1610 Miles was the wrong Miles, but Miles was always supposed to be a Spider-Man in the same way Peter is Spider-Man. Spider-Man is always a hero. Universe 42 doesn't have a hero, it's last hero, Jeff, died in the line of duty and his death very likely turned Uncle Aaron around--we see Aaron coming around in this universe and he's helping Miles' mother out with money. Miles needed a father figure and Uncle Aaron was here for him. The radio spoke of a vigilante to save the city, and I believe that that's what this universe's Miles has become--Miles is supposed to be Spider-Man and Spider-Man is always a hero. If you need more proof that Universe 42 Miles was supposed to be Spider-Man, the movie gave it to us: 10:35--that's Miles at the moment his spider was about to bite him! I suspect the next movie will play out the same way the first one did with 1610 Miles and Peter B. Parker, a reluctant partnership. The two will likely team up and fix this world before jumping to universe 1610 together to fight Spot. Jeff should be safe! Universe 1610 Miles and Universe 42 Miles are forever intertwined, and for that reason, I believe 1610 Jeff is safe, as his counterpart has already died in Universe 42. Before the third movie ends, I suspect a spider from Universe 1610 will end up biting Universe 42 Miles, correcting the error Spot accidentally caused when testing out Kingpin's collider. Regarding spider-sense, it warns Spider-Man of danger. Miles is not a threat to Gwen, which is why it didn't warn her =) I'm not sure if you noticed or not, but all of the Spider-Man variants, with the exception of Miguel, are funny--that's a Spider-Man trait. Gwen was right about things never working out between Spider-Man and herself, but she is missing a glaring difference between herself and her Variants, she's a Spider-Man variant! Gwen is also a Maryjane--that's her band's name =) And if the Spider-Man movies have taught us anything its that Spider-Man and MJ always get together and things always work out for them.

Your reaction to the end LMAO. I'm not gonna lie, but despite looking evil and all, I actually agree more with Miguel than Miles. I understand the feeling, I understand that saving our families is a big deal, but you could, potentially, bring destruction to literally everyone if you do that. In the end of the day, I'm sure Miles will be in the right one here, because it probably wouldn't be a great message for the movie if this wasn't the case, but, in that situation, I'm with Miguel, because his logic does makes more sense to me.

@@thegrandwombat8797 I sure hope he's factually wrong, otherwise, it's really, really crappy writing. As if the fate of the universe rests on the circumstances of one person's death - a person who is mortal and was going to die anyway, eventually, as we all are. All the other beloved uncles and fathers and police captains who have died don't matter, but for some stupid reason, this one particular guy matters to the existence of the entire universe? All the other people throughout the history of the world who have died tragic deaths - perhaps even preventable ones - didn't bring about the destruction of the universe. @@PhilBagels, I understand that, but shows like What If...? Illustrate how one person can make a big difference and, in some cases bring total destruction. Like, in the first movie they did a bit of time travel with Gwen, the same could be happening with Spot. The break of the canon makes him more connected to that world and since he's already super OP he starts to consuming it.

It's not surprising some people will side with Miguel. Because it's basically a famous thought experiment, a dilemma with options that are hard to choose. The trolley problem. Save one or save many. Utilitarianism vs deontology. Where saving many and sacrificing one is saying "the end justifies the means" or it's "for the greater good" vs. ending one life is morally wrong however you justify it. And tweaking that problem with other factors, such as making that one person your loved one will make it even more conflicting. There's really no easy and "right" answer there otherwise it wouldn't be a famous moral dilemma.

But Miles *is* a Spider-Man. Just like Peter. So his uncle's death is relevant. Just like Peter's. Also, it doesn't always necessarily need to be an uncle. It's clearly stated many times that the pattern repeats with different friends/relatives.

If you think about it a little deeper, there is a lot in this movie that contradict's Miguel's claims. What's happening in Pavitr's universe is the Spot's doing. It doesn't look like what happened in Miguel's flashback, and it was happening before Miles saved Inspector Singh. In fact, because Spot's is an anomaly, the fight that put Singh in danger was non-canon. How can someone be fated by canon to die in a non-canon fight? Also, if Miles is "the original anomaly," why is his universe ticking along just fine? He's been in a canon-broken universe for _over a year._ Why is Earth-42 still around? Maybe Miguel isn't completely wrong, but we already know he's not completely right, either. Of course, how much of that Miles put together is a different question. Maybe none of it. But how many people would let _their father_ die based on a conversation they had with someone they literally met five minutes ago?
@PhilBagels
@PhilBagels 6 ай бұрын
Absolutely right! If anything, Miguel is the original anomaly. He's the one who originally messed with the multiverse, even before Kingpin. The whole "canon event" theory sounds like utter crap to me. It's contrary to the ENTIRE concept of superheroes, and ESPECIALLY to Spiderman. A hero is supposed to make a positive difference. Things are better in the world because of the actions of heroes. And the central idea of Spiderman is "With Great Power..." You don't just stand by and let bad things happen. Well, the "canon event" theory essentially says, there is no responsibility, everything is fated to happen, and if you use your Great Power, you'll only make things worse.

@@PhilBagels One can read it as a meta-commentary on the real-world creation of Miles Morales itself. Lots of fans were very upset by the idea of a Black Spider-Man when there was buzz about Donald Glover getting the role. I believe Bendis is on record citing that as an influence. I mean, in the text itself: "Anyone can wear the mask. *_You_* can wear the mask." The narrative is explicitly on the side of Miles Morales having a right to be Spider-Man.

@@noodle_fc I don't know what kind of racist crowd Bendis may have been hanging around with, but I've talked to lots of people - comics fans - and never once have I encountered anyone who had a problem with a black Spider-man. But yeah, Miles has the right to be Spiderman, as does anyone else. Superheroes themselves are anomalies. The world you and I live in "has no Spiderman to protect it".

@@PhilBagels It was an Internet backlash, not people Bendis chose to be around. Of course casting rumors often upset people, but that time there was a racist element in addition to the usual. Google "Donald Glover Spider-Man" and you should get some idea, if you want. Or you could just take my word for it and not read any idiotic opinions.

I've seen a lot saying that Miguel shouldn't act like it towards Miles since it's not his fault and they are right it's not Miles fault that's why all Miguel did was leaving Miles in his universe and making sure that spot isn't messing with others. But now Miles got involve with other universe, he broke a canon event, and tell him the truth about his responsability to mess up, Miles actively trying to do something that will break the universe, he is actively being a threat so after that it's fair game.

I have to say it, because it needs to be said everywhere, but Miles and Gwen are not right for each other. I have read a ton of Spider-Man comics, and I haven't seen a single Miles or Gwen that would actually be compatible. They are fantastic as friends, but romance just doesn't work.

Miles is being really selfish. Now we know Miguel is going to be proved wrong because he isn't the protagonist. But for all information given to Miles. He is basically going into destroy his universe like he did to Pavitra's universe and possibly even the multiverse. So Miguel is in the right given the info we have. WE can't play dice with the fate of the universe.

We know a lot that contradicts Miguel. The Metaphor for Capitalism in Mumbattan was happening before Miles saved Inspector Singh. (And Spot's an anomaly. Is Singh destined by canon to die in a non-canon fight?) Miles is "the original anomaly," but his universe is fine; Earth-42 is _well and truly_ off canon-track and showing no signs of disappearing.

@@Agent-57 Earth-42 doesn't have a Spider-Man at all. Their _entire_ Spider-Man canon never happens and they still exist. Look at the Mumbattan thing. It's a Spot hole! The phenomenon in Miguel's flashback is totally different.

I grew up reading these comics. Peter Parker was the most likeable superhero outside of my beloved X-Men. Ben Reilly was the very first "alternate" Spider-Man, and for a while he took over the mantle in Peter's place. Us fans from back there really loved him a lot, and many thought he should have been the new Spider-Man for good. And then there's 2099. Long before the Ultimate Universe, it was the first big alternate universe on paper, that had its own comics and not just one 24 pages What If...? It was mind blowing back then. And again... a lot of us really, *REALLY* love Miguel O'Hara, the very first Spider-Man from an alternate universe, who was a new and innovative twist on the character. ...But they need to push Miles Morales as Spider-Man, so in a movie that should be full of Peter Parker versions, they got rid of all Peter Parkers except the one who is a failed, out of shape, deadbeat dad. And made Ben a joke and Miguel a villain. *This generation of writers can't create without destroying what gave them this opportunity.* *We live in a world of self-inserts, propaganda and corruption of everything that people love.* *Disgusting.*

That was just a small choice made. And Peter B is shown as in a much better place now. They don't directly mention any of the Peters, but they are clearly there. The reason why they aren't highlighted here is because of the sheer zaniness factor that's intended by the scene. This isn't about the writers trying to "destroy things"
