They are finding that birds don't just mimic but do have an understanding. I have an african grey that says things in context all the time without prompting. Like when I tripped over a bucket laughed at me.When My wife and I where talking about where to move a fan he said "put it in here". I have too many examples to include them all. Like when I was very upset went into his room and before I said anything he said "Whats wrong".

He constantly amazes me.. One of his new things to say is " Did you have a good day" when I come home.

We have mynah birds flying all over the place here. I hear them imitate other birds but I had no idea they could learn to talk like this. Just wonderful!!

wow you lucky to have a bird like that. I had a baby mynah while back when I didnt knew they can talk. I raised it and then let it go free.

He is so adorable! They are also VERY intelligent! When I was a teenager I knew an elderly man that had one. He could not get it to say one bicycle. He always said two bicycles, the man figured it was because it had two wheels! LOL Kaleo is gorgeous!! What a privilege it must be to have him!

They are such cool birds. They are everywhere here on the north island of new Zealand. I like how they always are in pairs. They are smart enough to know the value of a partner.

This is correct, it is illegal to own or transport them.. I rescued Kaleo off the ground and was unable to put him back in the nest. I didn't know what I was in for. While he has chosen to come back after being set free twice I caution anyone who sees these videos to not think they are easy to have as pets.I believe birds are best to be free whenever possible.. Kaleo is wonderful but a huge commitment.

When my children were small we enjoyed going to the pet store. One day we walked in and I hear "are you mommy's little baby boy." Looked around but we were the only ones in the store. We walked over to the bird cages and here was the mynah bird talking. The manager told me he belonged to an elderly woman and she died. Nobody in the family wanted the bird so the owner off the pet store ended up with it. He was adorable and obvious the woman must have talked to him quite a bit!The owner of the store said he loved the bird and it was not for sale!

"Kaleo" in Hawaiian means the voice... a friend suggested the name even before he started talking ..Couldn't have been more appropriate:-)

First time I heard this bird speak in English. Amazing! I like its accent and pronunciation. We have a lot of these birds in Cambodia though. I've met only three that talk quite a lot and really well , well off course in Cambodian language.

We have those common mynahs all over the place where I live in Thailand. For some reason they like to build their nests in the rain gutters of our house. My wife leaves left over rice, noodles and bananas in the driveway for them. They'll eat some of it in the early morning and evening. The rest of the time they hunt for bugs and eat the fruit off our trees. They also like to leave small plastic bags all over.

My dad had a talking Mynah in his store. People came from miles to hear him. Dad would roll back the opening of a #10 paper sack at night and lay it down in his cage. The bird would hop inside and immediately go to sleep. They're great birds.

I'm in Miami. This morning I was pumping gas in my car and there was one just like yours on top of the pump. Very close to me. It was mimicking all kind of birds , alarms and noises. I see them all the time but didn't know they could talk. I want one :)
