As I came to understand, this is an old song by Tengri from years ago. He wrote it and has a double meaning. There's his daughter who died at a young age (Tengri shaved his head and never performed it again till his invitation by The Singer in 2018) and his hope for them to meet in heaven one day. And there's his 'country' (inner) Mongolia. The song tales about the endless blue skies and vast lands and his mourning over the loss of his traditional land due to industralisation. It is a profound and nostalgic poem that makes you want to galop in freedom on the vast vast plains under an undying blue sky...

Dimash was a guest performer in 2018 (performing 'Hello') and when he heard this song by Tengri, he was very touched and moved by it (Dimash' love for his homeland is also apparent) and he immediately reached out to Tengri and asked for a duet. Tengri said yes and voila: 'Swan Goose'.

Thanks but just for correction, he is Chinese and his hometown Inner Mongolia is a province of China therefore Inner Mongolia is not a country(just like other 33 provinces in China). He sang this song in both Mandarin and his dialect Mongolian because he is minority(Shao Shu Min Zu) which there are 55 in total in China.

Love your reaction always. Tengeri 腾格尔is from Inner Mongolia. The stringed instrument with a carved horse head is the typical Mongolian instrument. He is using Mongolian singing style, only to the maximum strength. In this song, he’s partly mourning the loss of his young daughter as some comments indicated below. He’s an amazing singer and here’s he’s singing his gut out and tearing it apart, almost wishing he could revive his daughter or replace in her place. This was from Singer 2018. With Hua Chen Yu and Dimash. What a cast. I discovered so many great performers from this and other Chinese shows. They have such an appreciation of music and there are so many programs to enjoy. This is such a great performance. It’s a very personal song for Tengri. He also performs a duet with Zhou Shen where Zhou Shen sings Heaven and Tengri sings Da Yu in a combination. They perform so well together. You need to check it out. I am already in withdrawal for a Charlie reaction. He just released a new song in Spanish La Danza del Dios Sol. Learn and record it in 24 hours. Spanish is a new language for him to perform.

Hua Hua appeared on a programme called "The Next" (where Judges like him were given a song and 24 hours to reimagine it and then perform it). Hua Hua was given "Heaven" and created a totally different vibe with his performance. Far more tranquil. (Not sure if that performance is still on KZbin). But it is very peaceful.

One of the things I love about Tengri after watching his 2018 Singer performances is that he reminded me of Dimash, different age/generation, different vocals, obviously, different nationality. What I found similar to Dimash was that Tengri was true to his self, his style, the love for his homeland, his unique style of clothes, and using his vocal style in every song he sang. I also love that he always appears positive, happy. I know it's weird, but I think because of his and Dimash's uniqueness and staying true to self, they both respected each other... regardless of the generational difference. They complemented each other. Great artists ❣️❤️❤️❤️

I'm an American married to a Chinese lady who learned to sing this song. I'm a former classical singer and how he's doing it in this performance is so hard and one of the hardest songs I've tried to sing. This is my father in law's favorite all time song. The studio version is great and it's a very famous song. A number of great covers. It is about your homeland and how its heaven. He is describing where he is from (Inner Mongolia, China)

Tengry sings this song ‘Heaven’ about his homeland with every piece of muscles in his body and every drop of blood in his veins. AND he had been devoting w his lifetime savings to reforestation of his beloved Mongolian Gobi to keep the land from deterioration due to climate change and industrialization. Actually in one of the interviews he mentioned that was the reason he came out of his retirement to perform again. I also admire the quality of him constantly updating or refreshing in his music endeavors by trying out music of the new generations. In his live streams he would do covers of trendy, popular, cute songs or even video game theme songs and just have fun. Love and respect this man of simplicity and genuineness. I think Zhou Shen and Tengry both have pure hearts/souls and that quality comes through in their music.

HuaHua rearranged it as his own vision of an ethereal paradise and it's an amazing vocal performance too, you can hear Tengri compliment HuaHua for his arrangement in Singer 2018. In another show, I saw 3 singers singing their own rearrangement of Heaven in front of Tengri, and all 3 were almost copycat Tengger's version. HuaHua went for a whole different approach, and the result is it becomes his own song. Btw HuaHua's version went immediately viral on radio.

10:39 He actually did! Hua hua asked Tengri to teach him the "whooo" parts or at least how to shape that sound. You can actually find a lot of songs that he's included this ("New world" for example). I've actually watched this whole season of Singer and Hua Chenyu won this week's competition but he was really remorseful about winning because he thought Tengri should have won and he wanted him to win. Anyways, Tengri or Tengger is amazing it's always hard for me not to have an emotional reaction to this performance.

On February 9, 2018, KZ Tandingan competed as a weekly challenger on China's Singer 2018 wherein she placed first on her debut round on week five. She sang her own rendition of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" If I’m not mistaken, Tengri was one of the contestants or one of the Judge there.

😮You mention Zhou Shen..... There is a performance out there where Tengger/Tengri and Zhou Shen sing... each other's song. With Zhou Shen singing this.. "Heaven", and Tengger singing Zhou Shen famous "Big Fish". ❤️ There is an old video from a couple of decades ago, with Tengger singing Heaven in English. It's a much darker version with Industrial feel to it. The song is about the loss of the grasslands of Mongolia. And the loss of his young daughter. The earlier version is when he was angry. Whereas this calmer version is an older man looking back to those events with a calmer view of the World. Between those two performances he has spent his own money replanting some of the Grasslands. And, yes, you were right... Hua Chenyu sought Tengger out to teach him some vocal techniques, with Hua Hua using the wooo sound in a few of his own songs. And, I'm always moved by Jessie J's translator (Jeffrey) being overcome by the emotion.
