Tengri is a Mongolian from the Chinese province Inner Mongolia and this was a traditional outfit of his area. He composed this song, it is about the love he has for his homeland, the love of it green hills the grassland , it is his heaven. Tengri is well known and loved in China. Hua Chenyu and Jessi could be seen watching him singing

I learned of Tengri/Tengger through Dimash. They performed the duet "Swan Goose" from the same season, Singer 2018. I ended up watching all of Tengger's performances from that season. I loved his style of singing featuring music from his homeland and mixing genre sounds, much like Dimash does. They were together again, recently, on the Chinese show "Our Song" though each performed duets with other artists. Something I just learned about him was that he came to the US for his 14 Sep 2001 concert and performed this song to mourn the 9/11 victims. I love his style....and him. He always seems happy. Loved the clothes he wore, cool style.... Mongolian. It's his song he wrote for his homeland many years ago, he's from Mongolia. It has won awards across the globe....from my research. While watching all his Singer 2018 performances, something about him reminded me of Dimash, only much older. He seems to be more into pop style nowadays, with blends of his Mongolian singing...a different type of crossover. He's cool. 😊

Swan Goose was performed at Spring Festival 2019. Also Tengri is from Inner Mongolia, a Chinese province, not Mongolia the country.

Yes, the lyrics are very important to the song. Tengger (Tengri is his nickname) is Mongolian. The song is a Tengger original. He sings about the beautiful landscape of his home, the grasses of the endless steppes, the sky, the lakes, the galloping horses, the snow white lambs, and the girl (Lover? Daughter? Wife?) that he remembers so clearly. This was his Heaven. He is singing about his home with nostalgia from another country, the country where he now lives and works. But that is not his home. Home is the Mongolian steppes and he longs for it. His piece of Heaven, lost in the past but always held in his heart. Chinese people who live in the country frequently have to leave their homes and families and travel long distances to live and work in the larger cities. They only return to visit home on festival days such as New Year. They therefore understand his longing for home and it brought some of them to tears. Here are the lyrics: Blue bright sky, Clear rippling water, Ohhh, Green fresh grassland, This is my home, Ayyye, Galloping gallant horses, White innocent sheep And you my girl, This is my home, Ayyye, I love you, My homeland, My homeland, My heaven, I love you, My homeland, My homeland, My heaven.

I'm not a hundred% sure, but I read that the girl, in this Song ist his daughter, whom he lost at a very young age. But I can not give clear Source for it

Thank you so much for the lyrics. The performance makes much more sense to me now.

@@ABauland Tengri wrote Heaven years before the birth of his daughter. Sadly his daughter passed away at a young age in 2010, so during a concert that year, Tengri dedicated Heaven to his daughter.

it is pronounced Tenggerr. Tengri was an ancient deity of the Mongol and Turkic peoples, representing heaven. He is also called Tengri, as well as his given name Tengger. There is a song "Swan Goose" with Dimash and Tengger on the same show.

There were subtitles on a different version. It was about the destruction of the Grassland of Mongolia, and the death of his young daughter. Tengger/Tengri is just magnificent. That was Hua Chenyu in the green satin top, watching him. Hua Hua got Tengger to teach him the "whooo" sound that Hua Hua has used in several of his songs. Poor Jeffrey was just overcome by the emotion of it.

Hello, Interesting fact: the producer of The Singer, really work hard to bring Tenger to the show. He is so so good, I love him a lot. Did you notice at 3:51, 4:24 5:26, 7:58 of your video who is this guy in green shirt with orange lines? Its Hua Chenyu :) :) Have a great week-end! Take care of you and your family!

I think it's a problem of translating Chinese characters into the Roman alphabet. Different translations of the name may be prounced the same while looking different. The man tearing up backstage makes me tear up, too. I think Tengri wound up in the U.S. right after the attack on the twin towers in NYC and sang this to express his empathy for us. There are versions that show the subtitles. Have you reacted to the duet of Dimash and Tengri: "Swan Goose?" Tengri is Mongolian. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bn2oiYSZqdFjh5I
