The lead singer is freaking awesome. The band is amazing. The reason why they’re called big push. He does push-ups like me every day every night but he is so talented by God truly amazing wow!!!
@motaman807411 ай бұрын
That's called scat singing. Usually used in jazz. The other singer is Gorran Kendall. He plays bass, guitar, and does vocals. The guy on guitar ( electric) is Romain Axisa. He also does amazing vocals. The drummer is Glenn Chambers.

Kinda it’s just called scatting and yeah very much comes out of live free form jazz.

Gorran also is quite proficient on the harmonica

The love between these guys is so tangible as seen with Gorran stroking Ren's head, 100% Ren playing the opening piano in Money Game 3. Check out Song for Joe as well for his amazing key skills. Ren does everything too many skills to mention. Loving your Ren/Big Push journey.
@samuelsomething605911 ай бұрын
Not sure if it applies to the Big Push, but Ren also produces and mixes his music as well, not to mention co-directs his videos along with his friend Sam. I think he just lives and breathes music - he is so talented. Also wanted to say his collaborations with other artists (including his mates in this band) are brilliant; Sam Thompkins, Chinchila, and Bibi are a few I can think of off the top of my head. And yes, that is him playing the piano in MG3, which by the way is a “one shot” video with only 2 cuts: 1. after he pulls the bag off, 2. and behind the wheel chair (to clear the smoke out).
@Codex777711 ай бұрын
There's actually only one cut, as both Ren and Sam have said. It would be pretty pointless to have a cut right near the beginning, before Ren has even started singing/rapping...
@Codex777711 ай бұрын
Yes, Ren did all the mixing and production for the Big Push too. :)
@samuelsomething605911 ай бұрын
@@Codex7777 Hmmm...I read during an event sometime afterwards, Sam did confirm that there was a cut at the mirror, when Ren drops the bag after removing it from his head. From what was said, Ren was having too many issues untying the rope, so once they finally got it, they wanted to cut it there rather than having to go through that again should there be a need for a retake during the actual song.

Ren plays piano very well. There’s a number of videos showing him playing and of course MG3.

Ren played piano at the beginning of Money Game 3. He composed the piano piece and the string arrangements too.

Loving your journey down the Ren/Big Push rabbit hole. Ren's musical influences seem to be every artist he has ever heard and cover Hip Hop, Rock, Jazz, Blues and even Classical. All the best from Wales

he does a live song 'for Joe' about his friend and he play keyboard on that too, the beginning of money game prt 3 is ren playing and then the classical pianist comes and takes him off just before he takes his sack from his head

The Big Push have broken up (amicably). Ren had to move to Canada for treatment and Glenn (the drummer) got a job in Thailand. Gorran moved to Italy to live the life of a wandering minstrel. The only one still living in Brighton is Romain, whose solo album just dropped a month or so ago.

TBP is awesome. Gorran is the singer and the guitarist is Romaine and this is in Brighton. Good reaction

There's several videos of him playing the piano. For Joe is one and the beginning of MG3. And there's videos of him and Sam at a train station or something where Ren is playing piano. I love Gorran's vocals on this song!

Check out “Sweet Little Lady” live version by The Big Push. Ren beatbox’s, sings, plays drums, and electric guitar, and Gorran kills it on the harmonica. Great song and video.
@samuelsomething605911 ай бұрын
Don't forget, Ren also snaps his fingers! Haha Joking aside... love this video and song (very southern rock / bluesy). It amazes me how casual it comes across; they make it seem effortless. And they clearly enjoy playing together. Hopefully they'll get together every once in a while and put out new material.

Yes. Jazz scatting. I believe Ren's influences are everything he has ever heard! The money Game beginning piano player was Ren. Actual pianists can tell he isn't officially trained with the way he held his fingers. Ren is self taught on most everything and practiced that riff until he could pull it off.
@eryksun11 ай бұрын
Ren plays piano, but he has no formal training. The piano part in the studio version of "Money Game, Pt. 3" is a synthesised piano track that he composed in Logic. For the live version, Ren plays the intro on the grand piano, and the rest is played by Charlie Woof-Bryne, a classically trained pianist. He'd like to be able to play the entire "Money Game" trilogy live, so he asked Charlie to record a video of his hands while playing the song. Charlie agreed to do it, but he was skeptical that Ren would be able to perform the rap at the same time. I think Ren could pull it off, with a lot of practice of course.

I know for sure ren is inspired by sting, and a lot of older type artists. I cant remember specifically, I'm sure some others on here can fill in the blanks. Red hot Chilli peppers I think too? And of course nina simone. Things like that 😊💜 if you want some more of gorran singing, check out the big push doing praise you, sympathy for the devil, paint it black 💜

Ren simply is music. He started out making beats when he was about 11. He obviously is a music historian who sings & plays every genre. "Wade In The Water" is a song that was sung by Harriet Tubman as she guided escaping slaves to freedom in the north. The song told them to get into the river so that the tracking dogs could not follow their scent.
@RyanESmail10 ай бұрын
Ren can play guitar, bass, piano, even a bit of Cello and another instrument that I can’t remember. He also produces all his own beats which he started doing at 12 years old.

No. Ren definitely played the first part of piano music in MG3. If you watch his hands on the piano then in front of the mirror same hand same rings. I also watched the Behind the scenes video by Wolf Johnson Ren is playing that piano a lot, I love his playing. Nina Simone is a favourite of his

Now before Ren bkew up and got sick he was in a band called Trick the Fix and they fired him because he git sick and couldnt move out the bed for a year. Lotsa love to you two for reacting ❤❤❤ and it was in Brighton they were busking in. Should also really check out Rens good friend Sam Tompkins they did busking videos also
@ChrisLawton6611 ай бұрын
Ren wasn't fired from Trick the Fox. His contract with Sony was cancelled as part of a mutual decision between the guy who signed him and Ren. Ren still speaks well of the guy. Good recommendations, though.

I've heard Ren name drop Sting, Jeff Buckley, Nina Simone, John Lydon of the Sex Pistols amongst others as influencing his vocals. I've heard him cover Elvis exceptionally well, and he does a solid Frank Sinatra impersonation. Bob Marley and Barrington Levy have to had influence as well.
