Robert Plant personally ask alone with John Paul Jones & Jimmy Page that Jason Bonham the son of their late drummer John Bonham be there for this tribute. Jason told Robert he couldn’t join them because of a show he was doing. Obviously the members of Led Zep were pleasantly surprised when Jason was introduced and walked up to the his dads drum set & started playing. Jason is an incredible drummer in his own right. Watching Plant , JPJ & Page become proud, and emotional is priceless

I have NEVER seen a better tribute! Kudos to Ann & Nancy Wilson, they are ROCK goddesses! Also much love to Jason Bonham...you can tell by the look on his face this meant sooo much to him, and the guitar solo by Shayne Fontayne, just pure 🔥, the best...the look of Robert Plant being overwhelmed, and the sheer joy on Jimmy Page's face

This was the Kennedy Center honors in Washington, DC. You could see not only the three surviving members of Zeppeln, but also Barack Obama, Bonnie Rait, Stephen Colbert and famed cellist Yo Yo Ma. Seeing Jimmy Page loving it and Robert Plant tearing up was awesome!

JACK Black opened the Led Zeppelin Tribute. Foo Fighters, Kid Rock, Lenny Kravitz also performed at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors. Jason Bonham is Robert Plant's godson. He surprised them being there. Love how he looks to the heaven for his dad.

I was in the choir for this performance. One of the best moments of my life. Some fun facts: * Jason Bonham being on drums was a surprise to EVERYONE. He had told Led Zeppelin that he had a prior commitment and couldn't make it to the ceremony, and Dave Grohl had been on drums for all the rehearsals, including the live dress rehearsal. * This broadcast version has footage from both the dress rehearsal and the final performance * Nancy Wilson is super nice in person * Stephen Colbert came up to me and some other choir members after the show to tell us we did a great job * We rehearsed every day for 2 or 3 weeks for this performance. * When only the small choir is shown, the full choir is still singing, just behind the curtains

Oh. Thats cool. Love the background information. Please tell me the lead guitar players name. I know people say his name is Shane but when I look him up he's much older and doesn't look like Sheldon from big bang theory. 😊 How's Rob Mathes? I've had some replies from him awhile ago but never got the guitarists name. I think he's the most talented musician composer and arranger for this venue. And Kenny on drums. OMG. Love to see him waving his arms at the end. So cool. 😊

Truly the best cover I have ever heard by anyone. Every time I hear this, I get chills. Led Zep are not big fans of people covering their music, but you can see they were truly impressed by this and why wouldn't they be?? It was stunning. I watched it when it aired on TV and was so glad I had it on my DVR. Heart were already one of my favorite bands. I saw them in concert when I was younger in the early 90s and they were amazing. Ann's voice is a national treasure for sure. Here are 2 songs of theirs from different times in the career that are prime examples of what makes them so good. Barracuda from the late 70s and Alone from the last 80s. Both show the power of Ann's voice.

I didnt know until i first saw this that Heart has been performing a variety of Led Zeppelin covers at their shows since the 70's and they are ALL fantastic. Heart was the perfect choice for this tribute with Ann Wilson's amazing voice capturing the song like she wrote it. I think the combination of her performance and seeing Jason Bonham on the drums was what brought Robert Plant to tears.

They blew this out of the park. What a fitting tribute to an awesome band. I saw Heart in concert several years ago and they were still amazing. Ann can still hit those notes and I think she'd have to be in her 70's by now. Just brilliant!

@@eviehadlock8133 No need for the snark. John Bonham was famous for wearing them during the 1977 tour, and they became a "trademark" of his. True Zep fans know this, and it was a touching gesture by the choir. Get a clue.

Whoever arranged this performance was genius. Ann sang her heart out and Nancy played beautifully. Jimmy approved of the guitarist, Jason kicked ass on his DAD'S ORANGE KIT and looked to the heavens at his dad, John Bonham at the end of the performance. The bowler hats on the choir was just...... heartbreaking while also being the BEST SH!T EVER!!!!!

Great reaction, bro. I didn't read through many of the comments to see if anyone else said this, but that's actually John Bonham's son Jason playing those drums with his dad's symbol on the bass drum. John died in 1980, and Zep disbanded. The black bowler hats that he and the big choir were wearing were as a tribute to John, as that was one of his famous signatures. Robert got teary-eyed because he and John were best mates, and this made the tribute doubly emotional.

Ann Dustin Wilson (born June 19, 1950) is an American singer and songwriter best known as the lead singer of the rock band Heart. Considered by many to be the Greatest Female Rock Vocalist. Wilson has been a member of Heart since the early 1970s; her younger sister, Nancy, is also a member of the band. The first hard rock band fronted by women, Heart released numerous albums between 1976 and 2016; the early Heart albums Dreamboat Annie (1976), and Little Queen (1977) generated classic hard rock singles such as "Magic Man", "Crazy on You", and "Barracuda". All told, Heart has sold over 35 million records worldwide, placed 29 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, and has scored top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2010s. Ann Wilson was ranked no. 78 in Hit Parader's 2006 list of "Greatest Heavy Metal Vocalists of All Time". In 2013, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Heart. Wilson possesses a lyric soprano vocal range. She is known for her operatic abilities.

Some days all you need in your life is Ann and Nancy Wilson to make it great! Robert plant has always said he hates when people cover Zepplin but at the end of the song he’s so moved he’s in tears. Rip John Bonham, his son is playing drums. The boller hats are a tribute to John. I just realized the other day that Ann is 72 and can still blow the doors off the place. She opened a music studio in Seattle and several of the Grunge bands of the 90s, my teens, records there because she made it a point to pass on opportunities that she got for the next generation.

The Kennedy Center Honors are annual honors given to those in the performing arts for their lifetime of contributions to American culture. They have been presented annually since 1978, culminating each December in a gala celebrating five honorees in the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, D.C.[1] While the awards are primarily given to individuals, they have occasionally been given to couples or musical groups, as well as to one Broadway musical and one television show. Heart was not the only performance, you should watch the the whole tribute

Almost 15 years ago but I remember everything. I was 15 with a big mohawk. Now im 29 with long hair down my back and I still love Heart. Listen to "Crazy on you" and "Magic Man" if you haven't. Good reaction. One thing: John Bonham was Led Zeppelin's drummer who died a while ago. His son on the drums is JASON Bonham - not John Bonham. Also, I missed seeing all the artists that came on the stage to applaud Led Zeppelin - Lenny Kravitz, Jack Black, etc... who performed before Heart as part of this hour-long Kennedy Honors Tribute show that also honored Blues artist Buddy Guy & (I think) David Letterman & this was back in the days when the President & First Lady attended these Kennedy Center tributes (so did W. Bush & Laura before the Obamas).
