This team’s piourettes are very nice and they are consistently sticking their dismounts.

Wow, very impressive across the board. The only technical glitch I kept seeing is some of their pirouettes kept landing past the handstand. But that’s nitpicking. All their scores could have been a little higher in my opinion.

Huh? The US had two bars medalists in Athens. Also quick turns, but often almost at horizontal. Deductions in the 2001-2004 code but with the 2022-2024 code DRK would incur significant deductions for being way past horizontal.

The hand stands are the glaring issue, each girl seems to be managing only one per routine. Idk how the code worked then, but yeah. Other than that, yes, it's beautiful work.

I'm glad they had this moment together with the whole team doing so well on the Olympic stage. Who knows what happened to them in the years since then, but no one can this accomplishment away from them. It's so unfortunate that athletics is often politicized. I hate what the NK government is doing but the vast majority of the people are just trapped in the system trying to survive, so I just wish them well as because they are really no different than me, they just got born there not somewhere else.

@@mchur001 I meant their lives, what happened to them after gymnastics. Are they safe, fed, do they have a family, ect. I do not blame a NK athlete of any age for what their team leaders, under the direction of the government, had them do regarding taking a substance or having their age falsified. Again, they have no realistic choice in these matters as doing anything considered rebellion could result in not only their punishment and even death, but the punishment of their parents, siblings and grandparents.

To be allowed outside the country, they probably came from well to do families, so they're better off than average. But, I still hope they're ok!

Many less financially well-off federations use those gauze strips instead of grips. Grips are quite expensive and wear out fairly quickly.

@@anniehope8651 Incorrect. Most of the well funded Eastern programmes ie. USSR, GDR, Bulgaria, Romania, used proper grips up until the dissolution of their states/regime changes. It was the lack of funds from the post-communist governments that led to the use of gauze-grips.

The fact that they can't even afford grips and use tape instead... 😢 (And side note: that coach might have been standing there but as a coach myself I can tell she was in no way prepared to actually do anything if they were to fall. You can tell from the way a coach is standing, holding themselves or moving whether they're actually ready to spot and she for sure was not. I don't even see the point of her standing there.)
