The zipper is the back of the secret pants, loved all the stuff you got and can't wait to see what you make with them

Pretty sure the zipper goes in the back for those grey pants.

I collect elephant pieces. They remind me of my Gramma who also had some. The teapot gave me a case of the jealous. Just kidding 😂. You've inspired me to make a lace and embroidery pieced item. I was bin shopping recently and hit the jackpot! YEHAW! Maybe a slip under the skirt would be cute for some extra length and look cute. I have a vintage long handmade slip given to me from a friend that recently moved to a retirement community. You must have had a wonderful time. Looking forward to seeing your videos every week!

I wore that 80's dress pattern to my junior prom! I'm so glad you found it.

My bridesmaids wore it made in "Electric Blue" water-weave taffeta in the late 80s 💙💙 (and I'm in Australia)

Pleats in front. the dressy pattern you bought is the one I used for my daughter's prom dress. Used her ideas but that for a base.

The flowered skirt would look lovely with a ruffled eyelet petticoat under it - which could also add a wee bit of length.

Boy I can't tell which is the front of those grey speckled pants. I'd like to see them the other way around to make a decision. They were very flattering the way you wore them though. I think that's a very versatile piece.

Tang! My mother would never let me drink it. But I said the astronauts drink it. She said not when they have a choice on earth. Lol! I made a coat from a 1960s camp blanket, fringes and all. My favorite thing.

I recommend Aleene’s Leather & Suede Glue for 'basting' the trouser hem before you sew it. Spread thinly or lightly, hold in place with wooden clothespins or under a book, then sew after drying with a 90 or 100 needle (do a test on the cut off excess to be sure). I’ve sewn lots of leather and without the glue, the slippage is maddening and the holes unrepairable. I find that particular glue is great for flexible materials in general: light and firm but not stiff.

Love the elephant teapot! Reminds me of a teapot my mom used to have when I was little that got burned up because it was left on (that one was from the 90s but was not identical).

The leather pants look like pants I wore in the 80s only mine were black. The pants that look like a skirt are culottes and when I had some the zipper went in the back pleats in the front. Do they have a label? The white lace nightgown looks like the nighties my mother wore. I used to drink Tang when I was little in the 1960s I remember the commercials stating that it was the drink the astronauts drank. I wonder how they got away with false advertising? It was during the time the USA claimed the astronauts walked on the moon.

Great haul! Exciting! For the grey pants that you weren't sure which was the front : you can almost always tell the pants front from back by measuring the rise (the center seam) on each side (using a tape measure, measure from the bottom of the waistband to the crotch seam that separates front from back). The rise for the back of the pants will always be longer than the front rise.
@HaleyMarieVintage Жыл бұрын
I'll have to measure! thanks!

One thing made me wonder: Is the basket embroidery on the pillowcases an American thing, or a regional northwestern tradition or something? And why baskets? I've never heard of anything like that here in Germany - there's no such thing as embroidered pillowcases nowadays, and I think that in my Grandma's day they were more likely to embroider some kind of border around the edge, not such a large motif (that would probably have been a bit uncomfortable to lie down on with your face), and just the flowers, no baskets. I think baskets would be more likely on kitchen towels, but I can't remember having ever actually seen it. My grandmas would embroider bathroom towels, though, and crochet little lace borders and sew them on the short edge of the towel, I still have one of those. I think I also remember them doing something like that with tablecloths.
@HaleyMarieVintage Жыл бұрын
Honestly I am not sure, but you see it all over the country in America, I think it was a popular motif in the 50s?
