He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Kobysz for that. The kobyz is a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and it’s wide spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable. Igor Krutoy is a famous Russian-Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter. He came out of retirement specifically to work with Dimash when he first heard him. True masterpieces were created. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range (no kidding), like Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You'll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It's more of a father-son relationship. Please react next to Olimpico from his Arnau concert in 2019. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating. In my opinion, Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. I don't even mean the vocal part, but also his stage presence. This performance of this song is my absolute favourite🥰. I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I have gasping breath all the time. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so demanding and commanding😱 If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war😅.It’s absolutely stunning. By the way, more about dimash and his voice training; - he has "absolute pitch", - he has been studying since he was 5 years old, when he identified an out-of-tune piano by himself (multi-instrumentalist) - he used to swim and liked to wade through the pool underwater holding his breath (he says it's good for his diaphragm). because of his schedule he sometimes uses hotel pools - he reached the Taekwondo red belt, and he says it helps with his breathing and body awareness (1.91 in height) - he started studying music (Kazak College) at the age of 15, and even today he continues to study specialization in composition. - until today he doesn't go a single day without singing, he lives for music, it's a need of his soul. He loves "Dombra",his cultural instrument

Oh it's real. Dimash has his haters who will often claim that it's auto tune or faked in some way but the Dears have seen him singing in all kinds of circumstances. Backstage, at karaoke, sitting on a sofa at home with family or even singing The Queen of the Night aria in a stairway! We know it's 100% real. As you're starting to discover it's not all about the crazy range, his vocal skills go across all genres, all techniques and he makes you feel what he wants you to feel. This song was written specifically for him by the guy with the bald head sat at the piano. Russian composer and producer Igor Krutoy. If you see Igor playing piano for Dimash then he wrote the song. Yes he does look very small standing on those huge stages which makes it even more of a surprise when you see him in a group photo and realise that he towers above everyone else 🤣

Dimash definitely does not need auto tune. He sometimes moves his mic back and forth which gives a neat sound but he does it to prove he’s not lip syncing. His voice/ range was verified by professionals, never heard of that being done before but then again there’s only one Dimash

Thanks for more dimash stuff :) I knew when you meant by big - like pavaroti etc- almost all male opera singers seem to have that build :) Yes this song was wrote for him - while he does lots of existing song covers or traditional songs of his country, there are also songs that have been rewrote for him- and plenty that have been wrote for him too. And some he wrote himself. Igor Krutoy a famous russian composer who came out of near retirement to work with Dimash has been the most prolific composer for his songs. Yeah, there was no sampling being used - that was all his voice :) he uses that arabic style of microtonal singing or whatever you call it in quite a few songs- i love how it sounds- and most western singers will not be able to do it because its not part of how we sing in the west. p.s he doesnt have 7 FULL octaves range- more like he touches within 7- its probably more like 6 full octaves- but only if you count his whistle- that isnt used in many songs, since its not really something you can intergrate into a song properly -ofcourse thats still amazing :) And he probably is within 5 octaves for 90% of his singing.
