This is a brilliant Mongolian long song. For me this is one of the finest vocal sounds of anywhere in the world. It is actually two songs accompanied on the morinhuur (horse hair fiddle).

So deserving of the title "Singer of the Century". She is an astonishing wonder.
Her voice is like looking through the clearest of crystals. Absolutely flawless!!!!
@Tuya5614 жыл бұрын
@lauriux82 She is singing two songs. The first is in slow rhythm and it is very rhetoric and the meaning goes like this. "There is sun, shining forever in this world; under this awesome sun, youth is short. If spent one's youth without wisdom, it is too late to turn age back once it is gone." The second song is about the young woman's beauty and youth. The words are beyond my poetic skill to translate this master piece, but this is described so beautifully in Mongolian by D Ravzhaa.

thank you very much for sharing! i encountered mongolian music--the long song; the khour (? the stringed instrument); throat singing--about 20 years ago, thanks to yo yo ma's "silk road" tour. this led me to norovbanzad, whom i had the honor of seeing in NY around 2000~2001. just unbelievable, the voice as a string instrument. wonderful!

shiree nuur means table like flat lake, but the second song is not Shiree nuur, it’s Ulemjiin chanar, which means Absolute quality (of beauty) a song written by Danzanravjaa, the saint of Gobi, a prominent buddhist priest of XIX century.

Mongolian version of opera. Text painting technique is revealed beautifully in the first song. As you listen, it reminds the hot dry summer day of Mongolian Gobi Desert, the clean sky, and the heating sun. This type of traditional song is very reflection of Mongolian steppe, untouched, wild, and wide. There is no better picturing of Mongolian unsettled boundless land than listening to this piece sung by Norovbanzad.
