@OkieWindmiller We had a cattle ranch for 30 years just east of Giddings, Texas, where we had a 1940 Aeromotor windmill that we absolutely loved and gave tender loving care to, keeping the oil changed and it greased - it always ran great. Then four years ago, we sold our ranch because so many people were moving out to the area around it, and moved to Condon, Montana, (between Missoula and Kalispell, just south of Glacier National Park) where my husband's son and our daughter-in-law and our granddaughter live, but we miss Texas and Oklahoma everyday - 😊 There's nothing like the friendliness of folks like y'all - 😊 We're just so happy to have found the channel that you and Momma have and so enjoy watching every episode - it's like being back home again - 😊🌻💕👍

There are not as many 3 leg towers standing these days. They haven’t made them for many years. He would love to use the windmill but it’s rare also, and terrible shape. But, looks amazing. So, we’re gonna solar it and keep the mill as is. 😀

@OkieWindmiller29 күн бұрын
After rewatching that, I should have explained better. So it was originally a hand pump that could also connect to a windmill. When electricity came in the 40’s, they built these pump jacks that could connect to the pump rod, and move the pump up and down like the windmill or handle, pumping water! Without wind or human power! Amazing stuff!!!!

We had that exact setup on our farm. It was converted to an electric motor when the wind mill wore out. Dad called it a pump jack. My job was to go out and turn it on/off. I was young and don't remember much about it except for the noise it made on every stroke. Sounded like it needed oil. As I recall it filled up the cistern next to the house and a pump sent it into the house. I remember hearing frogs croaking in the cistern. The house dated back to the 1870's.
