Couldnt believe seeing that young lad driving the scraper because i was 15 when i got my first go over the pond here in the uk. That was a carbon copy. A smashing lad from Oz was driving one of four 631b,s cutting a new road out near our house. I warched them from dawn to dusk being pushed by a d9g with cable blade. He gave me a number of ride alongs. Come up saturday morning he said and ill teach you how to drive it. I had to wait ages but sure to his word he came down towards our house and sounded his horn. I climbed up and he took me through the ropes exactly as you did with that lad. My sister took 5 pics and they are on my wall to this day. That started my life long love of scrapers and many travels to see them working , anywhere in the uk. Im 72 now will never forget how i got hooked on them. Well done Jeff, that lad wont ever forget the experiance you gave him.

It's not feasible for hug contractor company rebuild older EQUIPMENT, update equipment is way to go. This equipment Jesse working is 50 years old, it's completely out dated, it basically deprecated pice equipment.

Just some info on coolant from a diesel tech....it's important to use coolant designed specifically for diesels regardless of wether or not they have liners, because all diesel engines will suffer from "cavitation". Cavitation occurs on the the outsides of the cylinder walls or liners because of the intense forces generated inside the cylinder and the resulting vibrations. "Pre-charged" diesel coolants already have the additives needed to prevent cavitation, they deposit a sacrificial coating onto the metal so that the cavitation eats away at that instead of the metal. Coolants that aren't pre-charged will require SCA's to be added for the same effect. "Erosion" is another problem entirely, and that can happen to any cooling system that has too much sediment circulating around which physically wears away at the block and other parts, coolant filters catch the sediment/rust and other contaminants so they don't erode the system. Coolant filters also commonly have SCA in them, be careful not to use an SCA charged filter with "pre-charged" coolants, that can cause issues. You can get blank filters with no additive for use with pre-charged coolant. Finally, coolant that is worn out or too old will become acidic and cause "corrosion", and that will eat away at parts as well, and electrolysis can also occur.

I used the same plastic for my tractor cab. I found that it is very impact resistant, but scratches easily. Also, to cut it and avoid the cracking from the jig saw, I sandwiched the plastic between two sheets of plywood, and no cracking. Same thing with drilling, the plywood kept it from cracking. Just a suggestion that worked for me.

Jesse, I realise there’s been a lot of positive feedback on the length of your videos and I’m pleased there has been. It’s great for me because I can put it on, watch until something comes up then get back to it straight away when I have finished that task, so for me it’s perfect as against watching 6 or 7 instalments over weeks. Another thing I really like is how you go through your decision making process, example was the shims you put out to a machinist verse line bore, it sort of explains your business model verse reality of owning big steel that parts don’t come cheaply for. Great content as always, really enjoyable viewing

Nice work on that thing. I have bucket teeth like that on my yanmar and a couple of them would fall out, especially when digging in hard clay. I put a little bit of weld on the end of the cross pin and haven't had a problem since. I wish you had filmed doing the hydraulic oil flush. I've never seen it done, and maybe I'm over-thinking it, but it seems like it would be tough to really get all the old fluid out of all the cylinders and hoses.

FYI, acrylic requires special tooling to cut without it shattering/cracking. Drill bits need a 60 degree tip and saws need fine teeth (like metal cutting saws) and you have to take it slowly so you get chip extraction, and not a gooey mess. It's kinda a PITA to work with but, tons easier with the right cutting tools. I learned this the hard way, broken/shattered a lot of acrylic in my time :). You can also use a laser cutter if you know someone with one

Instead of slicing the bushings with a saw and damaging the bore, wipe the grease out and weld a ring or two around the inside of the bushing. When the weld cools it will shrink the bushing and they come out easily. Sometimes they shrink so much you can pull the bushing out by hand. I've done this many times and it really works well.

👍 Killer job bro. With all those machines up there, you could score some exxtra bank doing close jobs. You can always mask those plexiglass windows to where you want it toward the edges and spray a black "frame" covering all that caulking, looks good. Been there, done that.

Pushing it around was nice. Always wondered how much resistance could be in those turntables. Thanks!

Jesse me and you have the same cheap crappy electric pressure washer, I think it’s about time we treat ourselves to a nice heated one 😊
