On the one hand, I mourn the magnificent tree that was felled to produce such a magnificent log - and hope that it wasn't one of those illegally harvested. On the other hand, it is incredible to see the dangerous labour that goes into producing such magnificent lumber, for production (potentially) of magnificent works of art, including exquisite furniture. I felled five smaller trees just today, and sadly, their fate is to be burnt as firewood, for heating our home in 2023-24. But I long to have the knowledge, and equipment, that would help me to turn such beautiful wood as this into functional works of art to enhance the lives of my family and, hopefully, generations to come.

Unfortunately, they have no idea how to cut lumber. This timber will have cupping, warping issues during the drying process. Their only hope is to air dry it slowly. Alot of waste in the process, but I've only been a sawyer for over a decade. Also analyzed oregan, washington and north carolina studies regarding sawmill best practices.
