I usually make a point of not being that guy who just has to point out the lack of Western safety standards in videos of non western world people working hard in a non western world country, but even knowing this video wouldn't be on KZbin if anything bad happened during the recording I still feel nervous watching it, I know of several tragic accidents that have occurred while doing similar work in places with strict safety standards.

I don't know why you guys don't just tie off each bracket to a continuous length or rope and leave a bit of slack, then you can just pull the rope bit by bit to release the brackets in order....out of harms way.

They should look into safer way of doing this. If that guy fall it's over for him.

There is. They should have someone loading the sand into a hopper with a larger piece of machinery, but they could do it by hand if they had to, and the hopper would shake the sand and let it fall onto the conveyer belt. Nobody should be anywhere near that close to the conveyer belt while going. My friend had a Hazardous waste company, and his foreman let the company they were doing the work for run the conveyer while the 18 year old who was just doing what he was told and sucking up the old cement from below the conveyer died in an awful way. Those vacuum hoses connected to vacuum trucks are powerful and can jerk you all around, and I think he had it strapped around his side and it got a strong suction to the belt, and from there he didn't have a chance. I've heard of lots of other horrible incidents. When you are around a plant or even a jobsite. You need to be cautious and follow the safety rules. Like even cutting across a little mound of dirt doesn't sound dangerous, but you would never know that only the top is hard and the rest is smoldering and can cook you if you fall through the crusted top. It's crazy the things that you just wouldn't expect to be dangerous. It's always best to be on the safe side.

Find it kind of funny that moving mountains of sand or rocks relies on a guy with a stick and a bunch of 2x12 (or whatever) boards. Low tech all the way.

The conveyer instantly stops and he can be pulled out, its only sand. He stays in safety area most of the time and doesnt over-commit, so im sure its fine.

@@welshe222 "it's only sand". You have no idea how heavy sand is. Once you are injured from a fall, you're not going to bounce back up right away. He will be buried, and without a lifeline. No lifeline makes rescue almost impossible from engulfment.

I don’t understand. The worker hangs on to a rope to work, all without a safety harness, and then he has a rod he works with his right arm & hand but zilch to save him if it the load goes into “slab” avalanche because the two other guys are flushing the outer rims with water - which in turn may make the whole mound engulf him. It’s hard to understand how such a tonnage of ship doesn’t have proper equipment to offload its shipment or how there’s NO backup to save the point man in case he goes under, a man (I might add) that has NO equipment to breath if he gets pulled under. WHAT THE HELL? 😮
