As a groomer… ALL DOGS SHED and SMELL. To a certain degree. And most dogs like the ones listed still have grooming and maintenance. Do proper research. All dogs have to be combed or brushed regularly. All dogs have to be bathed regularly. All dogs have different degrees of shed and maintenance based on breed and coat. Proper research and asking questions to those who are experienced will help you find the right pup for you. Even humans shed and smell. So asking dogs not to is sort of weird lol.

💯 Which is why I'll never buy a dog. Nasty inbred, unnaturally aggressive (compared to the animal kingdom), retarded, unstable mutants that can't groom themselves and are dependent on humans for literally every single thing (they "evolved" facial muscles in order to BEG better). I respect ALL animals, except the mutt. They shouldn't exist. We don't need them. Every "job" they have can be done by another trained animal, technology or a person.

I have a big red & white Basenji named Luke. Luke is a rescue dog that was returned to the shelter several times because he was very stuborn and previous adopters had tried to beat the stuborness out of him which of course didn't work and only made him scared and aggressive. He was 2 yrs old when I got him just days before he was to be put down. Luke is a mix breed Basenji and he looks and acts exactly like a pure bred Basenji in every detail but he weighs in at a muscular 115lbs. We have been together for about 10 years now and I am so glad that I took the chance adopting him. I've had 4 other rescues in my adult life and Luke is very special to me and me to him. With a lot of love and trust his early aggressive traits are long gone and we are best buds. We do most everything together and when I have to leave him at home he sits and looks out the window until I get back and always meets me at the door. Luke never smells but he does shed during the spring in Florida. Luke is very quiet and does not or can not bark but he does talk to me when he has something to say. We live on a small farm and Luke rules the property. He is also the seargent at arms at my business and goes to work with me every day.

Schnauzers are also great family members. I was a little surprised you didn't have them as a top breed. They do NOT shed and they are extremely smart. They are also GREAT watch dogs. Mine had a trail all the way around our property making his rounds to make sure nothing tried to get in. He kept squirrels out of the yard (we had a log home and squirrels chew on them), groundhogs, chipmunks or people coming up the driveway. You KNEW when someone was coming. Yes house training for Yorkies is problematic. I am really surprised that they included that dog in this video for people who want to keep their “apartment clean“. Yorkies are notoriously difficult to housebreak. Because they are smart, they would choose your carpet over outside when it’s raining or snowy for sure. Doesn’t matter how old they are. I agree with Basenjis being #1. I had a Basenji for 15 years. They shed their winter fur all at once. I’d sit outside in early spring and brush them until their winter fur all came off leaving it’s slightly shorter hair. It could all shed in one day. Then no shedding the rest of the year. They also lick themselves clean like a cat, including their dirty feet. They are exceptionally clean dogs.

Can a basenji be left alone during the day? Will it yodel alot or get noise complaints from neighbors?
@basenjilucyandpercy2 жыл бұрын
Agree with the main part, but want to mention that If you put right clothes in right time+ do not add fish in their diet for tgeit whole life than your basenji won't shed about at all. They do not shed in the wildness, because there is no big temperature changes in the climate they are from, only wet season and dry season.

@@thaniamoore7353 well, if Basenjis are still rare in your country, than you're very lucky! In Russia and specifically in Moscow it's one of the most popular breeds and it's embarrassing ! As a professional dog groomer I get what you’re trying to do here and telling people about dogs no matter what every dog smells its whether you maintain the dog or not regularly bathe it it’s kind of crazy that you say Labradoodles don’t shed and you never know what you’re going to get with the coat because it’s a mix breed. They are smart for sure but not the most intelligent breed. Get a border collie or an Australian Shepherd if you want a really smart dog. Although a really smart dog isn’t always the best choice. They will outsmart you at every turn, and can be difficult to manage if they are left alone for long periods. I totally agree that they missed the mark by not including schnauzers on this list. FAVORITE: Seriously overlooked is the WIRE-HAIR FOX TERRIER. Having owned two (each for 15 years) over 30 years, I know them well. No shed, bark seldom but will if they sense problem, no odor, love their people, medium activity and play keeps them happy. They are smart and learn obedience well. I love their calico tri-colors and their elegant fur cuts and stance. I love them so much; I tell others, "They're a bit like having a monkey and a 2-year-old. They are so curious and playful. A fun pet.

I have a WHFT and I have to disagree on the no smell, he smells even 2-3 days after a professional groom. It’s the smelliest dog I have ever owned! My partner cannot smell him but he grew up with the breed and this is his 3rd so I think he is used to their odour. They are very smart, but they are very stubborn and not people focused when it comes to training. He wasn’t food driven his first 3 years so I found him difficult to engage but from 4y onwards he started being food driven so training him ended up a breeze after that and now he can do all the usual tricks plus ring a bell to let us know when he needs to potty. I do think you’re right in the way that it’s like having a very naughty monkey and a 2 year old! *Edited for a spelling mistake

I too have Coton and is now turning 13. had different breeds including Shitzu, Schnauzer, Poodle. And to be honest, Coton is the ONLY breed that has almost 0 odor + almost 0 shedding(everydog shed, but in here, i guess we're talking about them not falling off everywhere), and that's because of the unique fur Cotons have. But the fur requires extra extra care in return to 9 odor. I agree that all dogs have odor. Odor ranking of my dogs would be Schnauzer>>Shitzu>>Poodle>>Coton. But odor doesn't make the breed any less charming. And it never bothered me... lol

Salukis are originally bred to chase down -- get ready -- cheetahs! They are very lean, have stamina, and almost like they are put together from spare parts of a greyhound! They are loyal, protective, and require a modicum of exercise; you will witness this if they are turned loose in an open area. My only negative comment has to do with humans not their schnauzers, these extremely smart dogs are NOT dogs for novices, they will figure out in the first three months if you do not know what you are doing and then will jolly well be in charge, listening to you just enough that you “think” you are the boss 😉 but in the care of experienced handlers, what they can be taught to do boggles the mind.

He was going to be sheltered and my heart started pounding with tears in my eyes I couldn't believe it, so i took him right on the spot, my allergies haven't acted up nor has my asthma except when the weather gets a little weird. Also, he's never been a barker even with his previous owner around he has never barked from the moment she got him, whether be it the other neighbors dogs barking, strangers, stuttle noises or thunderstorms he will never bark and he's a very happy pup. the only time he barks is when i ask him to speak then i would reward him, that's it. I did not plan to have a dog ever, not out of dislike I love them to bits I've just always thought I'm too lazy to be a dog owner. The Labradoodle and poodle are my favorites. As an asthma sufferer, the poodle was good for me. I had a German Shephard once and had difficulty with the shedding and breathing problems.

This is good to know. I’ve been trying to isolate breeds. At first I thought I was only affected by golden retrievers, but family members have a Parsons jack russell terrier, and I feel it with him instantly. I’ve also felt it with pit bulls and definitely German shepherds. Recently a hound mix and what looked like a shepherd or Australian shepherd mix. I’m not sure about labs, but at this point I don’t know if it’s the dander from their skin or the pollen they bring in. Poodles, basenjis, and other dogs on this list are looking good right now. Im wondering if a heeler would be ok.

The Labradoodle is a mix..so yes, they can shed as it is half a Labrador and they do shed..it is not a breed!
