For what its worth I do get hype for your China videos, LOVE the food content and getting to see what you and your family get up to ❤️ My family is from a different province so its so cool to get a window into a different part of the country! I would love to see how you incorporate chinese tradish/modern elements into your designs in the future too. Its something I've been considering how to do more of myself. It's so cool how in this piece you were able to thread the needle of adding cultural elements, wearability for yourself, and the technical challenge of making the garment esp when it was MOHAIR. Really enjoyed this video!! Watching this was like seeing my last trip to China - I also went to 张家界 for the first time w/ my Dad and experienced the complete & total fog situation at 天门洞 like literally we saw nothing. I also wanted to try every trendy drink place lol with my Dad as my confused and patient chaperone. My remaining grandparents are also in retirement homes in China - kind of a specific, diasporic experience. Thanks for showing all the snippets of your relationship to them - it made me miss my own family and China a lot. I also love Chinese fashion and feel like it's kind of coming into its own rn -- especially on the knit side (YanYan!!) and in the sort of fairytale-y / uniform-y arena (Marchen, Shushu). Loved the top!! Always impressed by people who work so much in mohair, all that work and all that frog.

To me it's always so interesting seeing people go back to their other people. Not in an offensive way. But I have very little if close to none family in Ukraine. I went to Ukraine as a toddler or baby so I remember nothing. And my experience of going to visit family is always about seeing my side of things as in my italian side. Which is fun but not as fun since I'm italian and I could make the food at any point in time and don't really have that "I miss my other culture" moment because since I was born I felt entirely italian. And by the time I wanted to get back with that other culture a war broke and there went my mom's plan on renewing her passport and my dual citizenship. I don't remember if I already had one or it wasn't finalized but it had to get updated as I have changed my surname from one to two. Also since my granddad died ten years ago I feel like I lost the only piece I had left. My mom despite being Ukrainian almost doesn't feel like it to me since she lived half of her life already over here. Plus she completely dropped the Ukrainian heritage she might've had. We barely eat Russian food (I don't like the ones my mom loves) but we sometimes speak in Russian to one another for fun. So there's that. I love living vicariously through you because this looks really fun and it sucks I can't really do it.
