I wanted to make sure it was easy to understand, we have 11 of these total now, but the first one that my husband and I put together took a lot longer (the directions weren't that great, and we didn't know what the flat caps were for, lol, then we realize we just throw those away) Hopefully the directions are better now, but I made this video last year to help others. We love them though, I have 3 in my home office, 1 in our backyard and the rest in our garage, they are so useful and heavy duty. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I need a rubber mallet. I used a small mallet but it is easier to use the kind in the video. 💐🤓

Yes rubber mallet is gentler. This week we added two more shelves in a room and we couldn't find the rubber one in the garage so we used a metal mallet one, worked good, but we noticed the rubber is more gentle yet strong. Thank you for your comment and wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Oh good I am so glad I was able to help. The instructions weren't that good last year, we had no idea what to do with the little disks, we thought they might be end caps, lol. So I wanted to make an easy to follow video of all the steps, plus we like to open up all the bags and grab 2 at a time, makes it go faster, now it takes me 15-20 minutes to assemble, we have 15 of these now, they really are so handy! If you move or don't need it for a while, they are also very easy to disassemble to use later, we just do everything in reverse. Appreciate your nice comment and hope you enjoy it!

I am getting a few more of these in Chrome version. I bought a white shelf from another supplier (not Amazon basics) but its quality was iffy. Amazon basics was the best shelf I ever owned! The 5 tier version stands in my office. It looks sleek and elegant. ❤

We have both black and chrome through the years, I totally agree regarding the quality, we have other ones too from other brands that look identical, even the squiggly lines on the shelves are the same, but the durability and holding capacity seems stronger on the Amazon Basics shelves. The shelving unit arrived yesterday afternoon, and while my son was making dinner I put the thing together in the kitchen while enjoying a beer LOL. Watching your video was a *good* thing ✅because it felt like I had already put one together ! So thank you ! Amazon actually gave an extra 2 of those little snapping collars in a little yellow bag, which was actually nice of them to do. A nice little shelf. Total was $66.34 Canadian funds for that thing, ( yuppers, we always get shafted on the pricing up here.... that shelf I'm sure is $20 less in the States ) but hey that's life. Imagine this, the population of just California is larger than the entire population of Canada... yup.... this is why your dollar goes so much further for everything. Want a pound of butter ? we are closing in on $8 a pound up here now, it's insanity. BTW, our taxes on stuff are 14% so a double ouch LOL. Definitely nice they gave extra of those collars, I've never needed it, but good to have! I glad watching the video helped feel like you already did it, I made sure to show every step of the way to help, since the directions when we got it last year didn't explain, we had no idea what the black discs were, until we realized we just throw it away, now they redid their video to explain that, I'm sure there were a lot of people wondering if they were caps etc, like we did the first time we assembled it. Thank you for your comment, we have both kinds actually, we really love them. I have 3 in my home office and I move them around sometimes, so that's why I got the wheels. Also the one with the wheels comes with the leveling feet too, so you can interchange them when you want. Please keep in mind each shelf holds up to 350 pounds with leveling feet, 110 pounds with wheels when not in motion, or 88 pounds with wheels when in motion with evenly distributed weight. @@SuzyValentin Hi Suzy. Well, I opted to go with the 3 shelf without wheels because I am going to put it against a small wall in an ultra tiny kitchen, and that one was on sale for under $30. I figured I would not need to move it unless I moved house, which I do not plan to do for some time, so I think it will work well. If I ever get into a larger place with a larger kitchen again, I would no mind having the 4 shelf model with or without wheels. As something of an aside, I think Amazon is no longer honouring Prime shipping on most things. Not one of my orders for the last two months arrived in less than 8 days even though all of them were sold and shipped by Amazon. They all seem to be coming via USPS or UPS now. The shelf I ordered will not be here for a week now.

I checked and I have prime as well and the 3 shelf says if I ordered right now it would arrive free delivery Dec 24th, I wonder if maybe our nearby facility may have them in stock, whereas yours would be delivered further possibly? I have been doing some shopping and I noticed a lot of items are coming later due to holidays and some sellers may be closed during holidays so they are shipping later, but definitely double check if your normal prime is working, because on my end its showing Dec 24th. I am sure the 3 shelf is going to be really nice, we have the 4 shelf and 5 shelf ones, but would be interested in getting a 3 shelf one as well, they really come in handy and the 3 shelf is very heavy duty, 250 pounds per shelf. Also we have taken one of ours apart, they are also very easy to undo as well if you do ever move, just push against it opposite way (or rubber mallet). Hopefully it arrives soon and you like it, we love ours, we have so many of them now, I would have to count. We even have one in the backyard for our gardening supplies, they are very handy and versatile.

@@SuzyValentin I think I am going to like the shelf. As for Prime, my deliveries started coming late at least two months ago even though they showed "in stock" and sold and shipped by Amazon. I live in a large metro area, and I know there are Amazon warehouses around here. I have spoken to several other people who all say they are experiencing the same issue. I think Amazon's Prime shipping just has not worked out for them in the end. I think as time goes by, more and more people will experience the same slow down in shipping. I have googled it, and a lot of people are talking about it. I do not use any of the other Prime benefits as a rule, or at least very, very rarely, so I am considering closing my Prime account. Thanks for your comment. Ours have always come out well, and at times we have put it on uneven flooring so we will adjust the leveling feet at the bottom. I hope you get it working well, we have 15 of these now, we love them, but if you still aren't able to get it stable and are unsatisfied I would reach out to them to send back for a refund. My only answer would be the leveling feet at the bottom to fix it. Hope you get it unwobbly and wish I could've helped further.

How do you know if the shelf has successfully locked with clips? I saw with a different wire wrack the lip of the clips show when shelf locks successfully is this shelf have the same idea?

Hi there, when you wrap it around the pole and pull down, you will feel it make like a locking feel, it it really doesn't lock, and there may even be a slight gap, but when you put the shelf down it will hold it because it's tapered and then the shelf sits on top. Thank you for your comment, if the bottom doesn't seem sturdy, you might need to adjust the foot levels till it is solid. We have several of these and sometimes I still put one lower than the other 😅. Sometimes my husband uses a yard ruler to set up too. Hi, it can handle up to 350 pounds per shelf. The plastics have a slight angle / \ so when the shelf slides onto it, it holds in place. We have 15 of these now, we love them. They are very useful throughout our home, garage and home office. Hope that helps and wishing you a wonderful day.

Hi Carolyn, apologize for not seeing your comment till this morning, Hope you got it working. But yes sometimes they don't shut tightly around it and might have a crack of a gap, but if you hear the click of it around the pole it should be good, did you move it up and down and see if the clips moves, if it doesn't move then you should be good. Plus when you put the shelf on top it also squeezes and holds it in place. Hope it worked out for you, wishing you a wonderful day!

Hi Carolyn thank you for your comment. The screws are if you want to use it as anti tipping and put against walls. Good morning, we have 15 of these now and we have noticed that some have a small gap but it still locks onto the poles when you pull them down it snaps into the groove, once you put the shelf on it holds in place, if you look closely you'll notice they are tapered at a slight angle, that is why they marked it Top and you need to place the shelf with lip going down (as the shelf holes are tapered too). That's ok, there may be a small gap, but one you put it on the pole and you pull it down, you hear/feel like a click and then when you put the shelf on, it holds it in place. That's ok Valerie, it still works, once you hear it click into place that is the sound on the horizontal lines. A lot of times there may be a slight gap but it still works great! Make sure the clips are Top to Top and then slide them up or down on the pole and it stays in place. Hi Suzanne, hope you got it working, if not maybe try different pieces, but if they click it should be working. Did you put the shelf on top yet, that helps it squeeze together and stays in place with the plastic pieces. Hope that helps. We have 9 of these now and just received 2 more yesterday but haven't assembled yet, so 11 total. They really work great, hope you got it assembled now and that you enjoy it.
