Amazon Echo Show 8 3rd Gen NEWEST One - What Can It Do?

What things can hook up to it? Which lights for example? You cannot use existing lights but need to get a WiFi light system, right??

I recently got the new Echo Show 8 (3rd Gen). I also have the 1st gen. On my 1st Gen while connected to my bluetooth earbuds I can tap the earbuds and pause, skip or go back while listening to music on Pandora. I tried this on the new 3rd gen and it's not working. Was this feature removed from the 3rd Gen Echo Show 8 or is there a setting I need to adjust? Update - I just hooked up my old 1st gen Echo Show 8 and even though it's slower my bluetooth devices work properly with it. I can adjust the volume, pause, play, track forward and track back all with my bluetooth devices. This 3rd gen is being returned.

I have the 2nd gen 8 and purchased the 3rd gen 8 just for something to do. I love my shows. Shows are so useful and I have been using them for years and it is hard to imagine getting along without them.

We have it for 90 year old parents to call family in an emergency. When we make the call another long distance number comes up rather than our number on the screen! Trying to figure this out as well as getting something for their second floor bedroom.

Lol, I now have these all over the house. Unfortunately, this one wasn't on sale on Prime Day in Canada. I ended up picking up a 2nd gen and a couple refurbished 1st gens. If this is too expensive, the older ones are still pretty good. The 2nd gen was new. The 1st gen refurbished looked like new and they were dirt cheap. One had a scratch from the stand on the bottom. I'm sure that the 3rd gen has an awesome speaker. My 3rd gen Show 5 is excellent for a little device. But at about 1/3 of the price of a new one, I will live with the refurbished ones for now and replace them as sales pop up.
