How are you tracking your BCaBA hours ? Are you keeping a binder as well as tracking them on the experience tracker? I’m a RBT and I’m starting my hours and trying to find the best way!

cory sigle-oliver for your interview you might want to make sure to be familiar with data collection techniques and other terms and strategies used during a session (ex: discrete trial training) and yes rbt has many synonyms, it depends on the company.

Just finding your video! This is such a passion of mine and I'm finally doing the training. I do have a question. Getting into the field do you have to be a independent contractor? Or can you work under a organization? Now with that, do you get paid more working under a company or as a independent contractor? Thank you for sharing this video!! I've learned so much!!

Not necessarily you could start off working in a school setting or there’s individual companies that provide ABA services.

Hey Anna, I love all your videos and have watched/liked every single one! (: I just had a question... I thought RBT’s aren’t allowed to be independent contractors? How does that work for you? Am I missing out on something by working for a company or what haha 😂

HI, Super good question, I'll try to answer as best I can... The BACB does not say we cannot be IC, but they recommend we not be because of the "definition" of what an Independent contractor is according to the IRS. Because we are under BCBA's we are not considered "independent". This is why the majority of agencies have chosen to change their RBT's to normal employees. There are loopholes however, and my agency and many others in my area have decided to keep their RBT's as IC (not to mention I live in Miami aka "the wild west"). We are not breaking any rules by the Board so that's all that matters! I hope that helped answer your question. Thank you for all of your support

Thanks for answering! So do you think it’s better to be an IC than a regular employee? It sounds like you have more responsibilities than a regular RBT, which is something I want since my goal is to be a BCBA. Buuut my company is pretty biased when it comes to moving people up. How did you get a job like that? I’m from CA so it might be different but I would really appreciate some more information!

Especially because my company doesn’t even provide compensation for toys, drive time, reinforcers NOTHING. Only BCBA’s can get reimbursed

What! I would look for another company to work for! Even if you can’t find a job as an IC you can definitely find agencies that provide you will all the benefits you listed. That does not sound fair to me at all.

My printer is a HP envy 4520 and it works great for me 😊🤷🏻‍♀️
