Amazon Fire HD 10 vs Apple iPad - Which Should You Buy?

As an iPad and Fire 10 user....no offense, but your bias toward Apple is obvious in this video. You can side-load the Playstore very easily. I find it absurd when KZbin users /content creators refer to any tablet as a true "productivity" device, unless you’re talking about a surface pro. That said, the only thing the Fire HD 10 lacks from a supposed productivity standpoint is native playstore support, which as I previously stated can be accomplished fairly easily. If we take away the Apple Pencil as a measure of inferred productivity, I guarantee that you can be just as legitimately productive on a Fire 10 as you claim you can be on an iPad. I have installed the play store on my HD10 and have all Google services on the tablet. Additionally, I have Microsoft OneNote, Word, spreadsheet, etc. A simple type C to USB adapter allows me to attach a full keyboard, mouse and any other peripheral I want to the device. It's not my intent to mock or bash you sir, I'm simply irked by the false narrative and implication that the iPad is a more capable productivity device than anything else available. Again, if you need stylus support, get the iPad; if you don't, there's not a single reason you can't be equally productive on the much cheaper Fire 10. Far too many tend to confuse preference with need, and in doing so, they misinform as it relates to capable alternatives on the market; perhaps this is done as a means to justify the purchase, but it is nonetheless an inaccurate representation of the facts. I own both an HD 10 and a mini 5. I use both differently yet equally, as it relates to entertainment and some work related productivity....for everything else, I grab my MacBook.

You are right on all points.I find that many if not most of these reviewers don’t know squat and in some cases it is actually counterproductive to listen to them.

After a year, love the Fire HD. However, the Playstore makes it laggy so had to reset it. Either way I don't need the playstore at all (except for youtube and google drive which I can use via the Silk browser). Other than that, agree with everything you said.

@@TheScofield1991 there are tweaks you can perform, which can help. Additionally, bear in mind, the play store version does receive relatively frequent updates, so it's a good practice to delete your older play store version and reinstall an updated version. Just pay attention to the build number of each version(found within play store-settings-playstore version). Because the Fire HD is not Google certified, play store version update must be done manually by the user, whenever they're available; they're not automatic.

After a while it gets laggy, so you'll have to reset it. Either way I don't need the Playstore. The google services with amazon services together eats more RAM. Maybe the new Fire HD with 3GB and 4GB of RAM can do better.

I also have BOTH. I use them specifically to play music from Spotify. I am a DJ for over 40 years and have used every medium to play music including laptops. Yet, for my use, the iPad Pro 11 fills my need as a storage and streaming player. When I decided to add another, I saw the Positive reviews for the Amazon tablet and decided to purchase that and see just how well it compares. The Fire tablet is less than a second slower to load. And whereas I can voice search individual songs to load into a playlist on the iPad, I am forced to type the songs for playlist development of the fire. Otherwise I find them to be both very equal in performance. The only other thing is the Fire screen is not as easy to see in daylight. I can see my iPad screen when I’m out in the sunshine but the fire tablet screen washes out and it’s not visible until I get it to shade.

Learn to call it Amazon's assistant so you don't set off people's Alexas it's very annoying Btw I'm typing this from my fire HD 10 It's very easy to get Google play on a fire tab just a 4 APK install IV done it on all of my 5 fire tabs Disagree with the accessories for fire tabs as there are 100s of choices on Amazon it's self. Fire tabs are awsome in the kitchen as you can use it like a echo device with show mode.

Seems like he didn't do research on what's possible, if it's bluetooth you can get it to work on the tablet, 3 minutes to instal google play, and add emulators and you turn it into a retro games tablet

Fire HD is better. I refuse to pay more than 200 for tablet that will probably loose product support or upgrades. I love my amazon HD.

I actually have both of these tablets...love both....but the Fire 10 is awesome for price to performance and flexibility....sideload the entire Google playstore. Plug in a wired keyboard and mouse etc. Amazon actually updates it's tablets better than any other Android OEM. 2016 Fire tablet just got an update...so there goes part of your argument

I don't need anything by Apple except for their Macbook. I own a Macbook 15" and an Macbook Air 13". As for tablets, I'm not spending a gig of cash so the Fire HD 10 was a bargain and I have two of them with the Play Store. One for me and the other for my daughter.

You forgot to mention that the fire hd has expandable store The iPad of any kind does not The fire has a fully laminated screen The regular ipad does not The fire can easily get the play store The iPad cannot The iPad is more powerful The fire is more customizable The fire goes on sale for 99 And even 75 a few times a year The iPad gets from 329 to 299 sometimes ice heard it goes to 250 but very rarely. The iPad has Gen 1 support only for the pencil and that 100 extra The fire has no active stylus I would highly recommend instead of stating that the ipad has better accessories. List the accessories and what fire has to offer so people can see and compare to decide what's better or more suitable for them

I'm wondering if you watched the whole video or just the first 4-5 minutes. At 8:48 and 12:28 he mentioned the expandable storage. He also mentioned the huge price difference multiple times. Also mentioned the stylus support. 10:32 he has a whole section on why you would choose the Fire over the iPad. He lists multiple features of the Fire tablet that iPad doesn't have.

I bought the Amazon Fire for my grandkids who only play games on my phone, outdated ipad, and computer. I had no clue about how to set up or what the difference were. This video was extremely helpful.

I have Fire HD10 and Fire HD8 for my kids, I installed google play and everything its been great. However, I find that there are more apps for studying and learning math, english etc that are more user friendly in ios. I will be migrating to Ipad. Also, the experience for writing is better in ipad.

You need to do your research and come up with detailed information. 4:10 you talked about Amazon Fire HD 10 memory, but you did not mention iPad memory size. This is not an acceptable comparison when you are mentioning one's memory and for others, you are appreciating it with memory optimization without mentioning how much that memory is. You'll get low grades in any academic writing.

I think the price difference is the main thing here I got the latest Fire HD 10 for $90 Black Friday deal broke it now got google play store youtube, Netflix, all the APKs it’s HD obviously great for watching movies it’s Alexa so just speak to it to play all the latest music sounds not to shabby either I use blue tooth connective earphones sounds just ex!!! Obviously not as fast as an iPad but try buying a bran new iPad for that 😂

Video is good but fire hd isnt in the same league.. fire hd tablets are for casuals who use tablets only for media consumptions ( movies / music etc ) iPads they do that but they are also more for productive tasks like work / editing whatever. It's like comparing a Honda civic to a lambourguini

Use "fire toolbox" to install the google playstore. You can easily find a video on youtube. It literally takes only a few minutes.

imean apple does want you to buy new devices all the time like when you can't fix them or the apple store charges almost as much as a new one to fix but in this case, that tablet came out 8 years ago... I'm going ipad for my kid this time. I have the first gen Ipad its like 10 years old and wife has the first Ipad mini. We already got our daughter two different Fire tablets and both are slow turds. Our Ipads seem to run like new forever.

Play store still works well, and as I’ve already said...it’s still being updated by Amazon. Sounds like placebo effect to me. You spent 5 times the money for your iPads... You're therefore inferring better performance that cannot possibly be the case... especially if they're no longer seeing updates. My old unsupported iPads run like turds....my 2016 kindle fire 8 is still holding up well.

I have Disney +, Netflix, etc on my Fire tablet, including 3rd party apps that gives you all of the content free. I can also play pc games on it, and it took less than 5 min to add Google Play Store on top of the Amazon App Store it comes with. I only use mine for browsing, streaming, and gaming, so ipad would be useless for me.
