Silly question, can you watch freeview through the internet or do you still need a cable & aerial?

Traditional freeview still needs an aerial. Freeview play, a newer thing, allows access to some online content

What I’m really looking forward to is the day when BBC1, BBC2, ITV and Channel 4 are available through the internet so that I can do way with the two TV aerials that I have. Also it allows me more options for positioning TV,s within a room without having to run co-axial cable all over the place. I just want wireless TV! Not too much to ask in today’s hi-tech world. Who’d have thought that would still be unavailable in 2024, and with no sign of things ever changing. Crazy!

@@rob-fb5xs yeah that's absolutely fine. You can just use the BBC iPlayer and ITVx apps and things like that for your standard terrestrial TV.

I think it's a gr8 tv with good movie sound. The picture is bright & beautiful & big 🙂

Yes, you can connect an aerial to it to pick up local channels.

Can you use this tv for casual retro gaming with some casual current-gen gaming every now and then?

You can indeed, it will certainly work via HDMI but will only be 720p.

@@TechNuovo Yes the retro gaming will be through hdmi or an hdmi converter which upscales to 720p. Unfortunately anything that I play that is more current will be stuck at the 720p resolution but like I said I am a casual gamer not hardcore by any stretch.

Yeh, if you know how, it works just like a Fire TV Stick and you can side load apps.

The interface is just like a Fire Stick, so if you know how to use that to access certain things, you can do the same with the tele.

Depends if you need it / have a purpose for it. I actaully use this tele more than my main TV now, just due to conveniance and it's location.

@@TechNuovo I just loathe Fire OS, I would rather have the TV without it and manufacturers really need to begin shipping TV's which allow a "dumb" TV mode. Smart TVs as they age don't get updates and when the OS integration is such that you need it to control picture functions and input switching the core TV functionality can break causing unnecessary e-waste.
