Amazon Flex: Morrisons Basics

Amazon Flex UK, How do you do a Morrisons Block? What do you need? Where do you go? Where do I find my parcels? How do I stack my trolley? Is it better than Logistics? Do I need to go back?
Note: Amazon, in their wisdom decided to get rid of the greeters :(
The Morrison’s staff are now the ones who check your ID and that you have a block, before you start picking.
If you are new to a store, find a friendly security guard and they should be able to point you in the right direction to the flex area!

@@Gogglelog yes - at logistics they can sometimes reactivate you - but it’s at the Marshall’s discretion - if the roads were completely blocked they wouldn’t turn everyone away - no-one would get their deliveries!

@@marvinsflextips I've got to do Morrisons deliveries and there is nobody there is remotely interested in what Amazon flex drivers are doing nobody checks you in or check your licence the first day I went there I asked a woman what I need to do and a response was you should have watch a video then walked off basically there is no Amazon flex Marshall, any member of the public could walk in with a trolley and take Amazon bags off the shelf without anybody noticing

@@Gogglelog yes, unfortunately Amazon seem to have gotten rid of the greeters in the last month. The Morrison’s staff are supposed to check ID and that you have a block now. I’ve shown several new drivers what to do at our local Morrison’s - so the staff don’t have to!

Hi, would you mind me asking, when you've collected your packages from Morrisons, how do you get back out the store again? I've done a few blocks now and usually come back out through the self service checkouts, yesterday when I was trying to navigate 2 trolleys through the self service checkout bit I was told by a Morrisons employee that Amazon drivers should be leaving through the small black gate next to the barriers where customers enter into the store.

It all depends on the store - some have the Amazon area before you get to the security gate when you enter (super easy as you don’t have to actually go into the store) - some are at the back so you have to negotiate the shoppers (better to do 1 trolly load at a time if it’s busy) - I’ve seen some where you go back to the security gate and just wait for someone to come in (so you can get out) and also 1 that sounds similar to yours where there was a small exit where you had to unclip the elastic barrier to exit past the main checkouts. I’ve even been to one where you go through the store, but exit out a separate exit at the side… It’s probably best to ask security at your Morrisons

Actually thought I had dreamt up some sort of unique awesomeness using the IKEA bags lol anyway I put some rubber play matting in the bottom of my IKEA bags, it allows some decent stacking in the car aswell.

The IKEA bags are super helpful when doing logistics as well - I put all the book folders and envelopes in there on my passenger seat

I had my first amazon flex Morrison few days ago and to be honest i did not make any money in that block n the reason is for that i had 5 deliveries from Morrisons to first dropofff was 15 miles then turns out the first address was wrong on the amazon maps so i called driver support they said drop it back after you finish other deliveries so i went on to drop off other deliveries between each drop there was more than 10 miles driving at the end when i was going to head back to Morrisons to return the first delivery and i was about 20 mile away it was a 2 hour shift for £26 and i started 10:45am and finished at 1:10pm and done about 50 miles for £26 now to think about my expenses using my car etc i didnt make money on that block but i dont know if its always like this ?

I don't have a amazon jacket , never done a shift yet but I emailed amazon support they said only amazon logistics have the vests . What If I do an amazon morrisons delivery would they require me to wear the vest?

Amazon say you can wear what you want when delivering. If you buy a hi-viz, you can add it as an expense when you do your self assessment

Thinking of giving this a go as have a feeling my hours in work are getting reduced. Have registered on Amazon Flex. Was just wondering, do the Morrisons deliveries show up on the Flex app when it shows blocks that are available in your area please ? Thanks for the tips.

Yes Morrions blocks appear just like logistics blocks. Different stores have different picking times and pickup times, if you don’t get reserves, the blocks normally appear 1.5 - 2 hours before the block start time each day

Hi Marvin, thanks for the video & tips, so pleased I watched it or I’d have been totally lost on my first day! So, having done my first 2 hr shift, I’m pleased to say I survived lol! Perhaps you could shed light on something for me please. My first drop was literally 2 parcels. Whilst I was driving back to Morrison’s i received a notification telling me my next jobs (28 parcels to 3 different addresses) I was driving at the time so only quickly saw it. 5 mins later I’ve parked up & told to wait. When I was told to proceed the addresses had all changed & number of packages etc… Did I do something wrong? To be honest, if I did, it actually worked in my favour as the new drops were more local to me 👍 Thanks in advance

No you didn’t do anything wrong :) They quite often shuffle the deliveries around depending which drivers are there which ones are returning. Sometimes you ca wait all shift and have deliveries on your list as well, but you may not get told to go inside if they are still picking one or 2 orders. They may disappear and get given to another driver. If you get given any deliveries and it’s less than 30mins left on the block, you can ring support and tell them you don’t have enough time to deliver; or you could deliver them, but make sure you claim an adjustment for any time past your block end time.

@@marvinsflextips phew that’s good to know! I did get an email today after my block to tell me I’d not taken all the deliveries assigned to me..whoopsie! Not sure how the heck I did that 🤷🏻‍♀️ I scanned all I had & no more where on my screen. Swiped to finish etc…surely a warning should have flashed up for me? Hoping that’s not a blot on my record, after all we’ve all got to learn. Thanks again for sharing your insight

@@lisacromack2802 you should be fine - it may be that they assigned you something on the way back but you didn’t acknowledge it at the time, but I wouldn’t worry about it - they can’t expect you to reply instantly if you are driving!

Hey, What do you do if the customer is not at home? Return to the store or you can deliver to the neighbour? (And of course if delivery contains age restriction item, and no one is at home, you MUST deliver back to Morrisons, right?)

Yes AVD has to be a household member, so not a neighbour. If there’s a safe place then you can leave the items (the app will say customer not required) But if there’s no safe place I mark as customer not available and if I have other deliveries I’ll try again before I return it to Morrisons. Before I head back, I call support and get THEM to tell me to return it - that way is shouldn’t impact your standing

Ask at the customer help desk, they will probably be able to register you with the parking system so they know that you are working there

I managed to pick up my first block yesterday, it's for 2 days time and is from 11.30am-1pm. when I turn up to the store will the app change automatically for me to see the orders/drops etc? Or do I click anything that tells them I'm at the store to start? Thanks.

Yes - you press start travel and it navigates you to the depot/store then press I’ve arrived and it’ll tell you wait and then when the orders are ready it’ll tel you to go inside and scan

Does the shopping at Morrison’s come prepacked in the blue freezer bags when you pick up for delivery? I’ve just started doing Prime Now and it seems they’re no longer being used… thanks!

Any chilled or frozen food has to be kept cool while delivering, so it should be picked up in the coolbags and only taken out when you get to the delivery address

I've just got signed up to Amazon Flex for some part time bits and bobs at the weekends / evenings. Morrisons certainly looks like it's the more preferable one in terms of workload? (Coming from the angle that I'd much rather do less individual stops). Nicely explained video, much appreciated!

Yes Amazon got rid of the greeters to save money :( I’ve done 120miles in a 2 hours block, but the individual addresses were no more than 30mins travel from the store. Claim back the milage against your tax and the milage doesn’t matter that much…

Hi, I've had a list up pick up locations show up on my app asking me to select one, but they're all about an hour away. Do I just wait it out for one more local to come up? Looking at the map on their website they do have a hub more local to me but thats not on the list.. so presumably I sit tight for now? Tried customer service but couldn't get anywhere with it

Amazon is divided into regions, you need to select one of the stations in your region and then the app will show you all of the locations in there

Hi, I'm starting one at Morrisons today and I'm absolutely bricking it, just a quick question about the cooling bags, do you get them from Morrisons then have to return them after you've finished? Or have you got to get them yourself, cheers.

Everything is already picked and packed for you when you go to pickup. Anything that’s in a coolbag needs to stay in it until you get to the customers door, then you just take the brown bag out and bring the coolbags and the ice blocks back to the store. You don’t have to take them back the same day, just return them when you have another block. If it’s going to be a couple of days, I tend to put all the blocks in 1 coolbag with the plugs facing up as some of them can leak when defrosted. Then I flatten and stack the other bags (I also remove the labels when I do this - just makes it a bit easier for the pickers at Morrisons)

@@marvinsflextips First " shift" went badly, spent 25 minutes waiting at Morrisons for the order, amazon maps on my 2nd delivery took me in the complete wrong direction by 20 minutes and said she lived in the middle of a junction 😂 I ran over by half hour but amazon gave me 14 quid extra, it hasn't stopped me from picking up something else though, thank you for doing this video it helped me tons

@@jameswicks3057 I have started checking the maps while I wait - if one of the pins looks way off from the others I double check the address. In the Bristol area, if amazon doesn’t recognise the address it sends you to Bristol airport! This usually happens with a new build, so I either check google maps or Waze or call the customer to confirm their address

If you have more than 30mins left on your block, it will always tell you to go back (even if there are no deliveries) if you finish up really early, then it’s best to go back (say after 1 hour in a 2 hour block) as they could assign you more deliveries. If I have that much time left I normally go back and return the cooolbags

@@relaxchill9114 - well, you are being paid for the block, not the deliveries, so you should go back if you will be back I time to make more deliveries (they won’t send you out again if there is less than 30 mins left of your block)

my recommendation is if you have only a couple more deliveries and it looks like your gonna finish early but not early enough to go and get more. Then just take your sweet time.

Hi, many thanks for the video. I have just joined Amazon flex, have yet to do any deliveries, so have a few questions. What happens when you have done your delivery and have like 35 mins remaining in your block? Do you have to go back to Morrison’s? can you wait around for 5 mins outside your last delivery and finish? What if you go back to Morrison’s and get another delivery and have to deliver multiple deliveries taking you over your allocated block??? How does this work? Is this extra pay? If so at what rate?? If you wanted to get around this, how would you get around this? Thanks again 👍🏽👍🏽

You do get paid overtime if you go over your block end time, in this case you'd have to email support from within the earnings section of the app. There's no set overtime rate (1.5x for example) like in a usual job, it is random but will be of course be at least the base rate.

Yes, coolbags go back to Morrisons - but you can just take them the next time you have a block, they don’t have to go back the same day

Each order you pick up has a different random work on it. So the bags with kinds all went to the same customer. It helps find them when you pick up scan, I put them together in my car and then it helps identify which ones to scan when you get to the customer's address.

Hello Marvin I haven’t attempted a Morrisons delivery yet and was just wondering what the procedure is if a customer is not happy with any substitutions. Do they accept the substitutions before you deliver? Your help is much appreciated

They should have had a text about substitution when the store selects them (although I think they only get 5 mins to reply - similar to when we send a text through the app) I would just explain that you only deliver and not pick the orders - if they have a problem they should either contact Amazon through the app or ring the store direct.

There’s no size limit - you enter you car details in the app so they know what you can carry. BUT some of the logistics depots don’t accept 3 door cars - but it depends on the depot - I’ve seen a smart car collecting at out depot! You can use any car for Morrisons though.

@@jeffreynanatakyicollins101 problem for you, and all of us is that, if you have 2 back to back blocks in the same store or have returns. You're really screwed because the 2hr parking limit will get you a nice £65 ticket. I've neeb in that situation loads of times, morrisons and amazon just dont care about flex drivers. they have a tablet to over-ride the parking and give us day pass, but the stratford store dont care about it and the canning town one - often dont have the tablet charged up. Peckham one has the tablets locked up in their managers office and from what I gleaned staff dont like disturbing the manager. The only stores that have the tablet easily accesible are the welling store and the camden town store. both too far away from me.

It’s actually a pretty easy job, some of the routes can be worse than other, but then you get easy routes as well. If you go over your block time, make sure you claim for an adjustment.

I always check the map - if it looks like a drop is way off from the others then it may be the address is incorrect. I’m out region it sends you to Bristol airport if it doesn’t recognise the postcode (normally a new build) input it into Waze or call the customer to find the real address. Then use airplane mode to deliver the parcels and fix the pin using the feedback section. I don’t really worry about the milage, as you can claim back 45p per mile to reduce your taxable income when you do your self assessment
