Theres actually a Prime Loyalty program that happens behind the scenes. The reason is Amazon wanted to be looked at the way companies like American Express are looked at when it comes to customer loyalty. However if you're not a prime customer...... yikes

I had prime for years and also have the amazon credit card. Whenever I need a refund or return its like zero hassle. They dont even ask questions they just say yes. It's kinda baffling but really appreciated they dont waste my time.

They did that because if you return it they have to sell it at a loss since it's used digital hardware. It's cheaper for them to give you a $200 credit than have to pay out the labor to wipe, check, repackage and store the laptop.

Amazon did this to me as well! I was trying to return a Sony camera lens, I didnt really like it and it wasnt what i thought it would be. It was a $900 lens, I had it for two days. Put in a return through my account. Within the same hour an Amazon representative called me asking me if the lens was damaged and why I wanted to return it. I told him why, he put me hold and a woman with an accent got on the phone. Told me she was going to cancel my return, and put the $900 in my account as credit. I was so confused. But before I was able to say anything, she was like its in your account. You dont have to worry about returning it. Im sorry you didnt like the lens, but you can keep it or sell it elsewhere… Asked me if i had any question. By that point I saw the credit in my account, and just said no I just wanted to return the lens. I appreciate the credit, thank you and she hung up….. This was back around Halloween for me. So to hear this story happened to Korey I feel at ease 😂 I thought I was the only one.

I had a Ring cam that was completely malfunctioning and made a list of diagnostics tests I recorded during troubleshooting. Talking to Amazon on the phone, she was really nice, apologized, asked if I could send her my diagnostics and sent me a next Gen Ring as a replacement as well as a Chime for free.

That happened to me once but the item was lost in transit. I ordered a computer monitor and it was supposed to be delivered by an Amazon driver to my work place instead of my home. The driver could not find the address for some weird reason because it is a stand alone building. So Amazon said, since we are having trouble delivering this package, here is your money back. A day later, one of our business neighbors came by and dropped off a package with our address on it. Turned out it was my monitor! So, idk what that driver was doing but thanks for getting me a new monitor for free 😂

This is what happened to me but it was only for an SD card. I bought one after a week they said it was lost in the Mail and sent me a new one. Then about a month later the other arrived. So I got two SD cards.

Happened to me with some blu ray movies. I ment to get a 4k copy and I had opened and realized it wasn’t the 4k versions I had bought. Support sent me the money to just keep it instead. I think they didn’t wanna deal with the whole refund process so they just give you the money to buy the thing you want. Idk if they have some kind of overstocked with inventory or something.

Amazon has random surges of generosity. My mom ordered a Fire tablet years ago. It never arrived, so she let Amazon know, and they sent another one. Before the 2nd one arrived, the 1st one she originally ordered eventually showed up. Once the 2nd tablet arrived, we called back, explained the situation and offered to send the 2nd one back. They told us to just keep the 2nd one. Couldn't believe it. lol

Best investment for any laptop is getting a great laptop cooling pad. I can't stress this out enough for my clients (use to work at a pc retail store) about getting a pad. Laptop fans are generally terrible and has been terrible for decades! Get a dual-fan cooling fan. A good one generally cost around $35 to $50. In terms of specs, just check if the laptop has a 4080, M.2 drive (or SSD if it's the cheaper option) and 16GB ram at least, then you good to go. And don't forget the cooling pad!

Yeah I assume that a $1500 laptop has an expensive return cost for them so they probably saved by just giving you some money instead. Even worse it being refurbished, which I assume doesn't change the return price but does change the sell price if they wanna resell it again

I tried a MSI crosshair, the fan noise wasnt for me. Got a ps5 slim instead, I'm satisfied with it and having my hp pavilion for internet surfing on the side. Desktops are quieter maybe I'll go for one down the line.

I wanted to return an Xbox system once and didn’t actually mean to purchase it I was just up late window shopping online. I asked for a refund they sent it but I completely forgot to ship it because I was moving and had boxes everywhere. They never even shipped a return label. When I finally reached out to them when I found out I had it they said just keep it. A nearly $500 gaming console and they like man whatever. That tells you how much these companies make.

If the laptop you're replacing is the one you use to manage your livestreams, then get a laptop with an rtx4080. 4080's have dual-encoders, which is like the most advantageous feature a system that handles livestreaming can have. Don't wait on the 50-series, just get a new laptop whenever you feel like it. The announcements for the 50-series is in a few days. Though release date for them is later in the year, it'll all get scalped, stock will be empty, and you'll have to wait even longer or pay an insane markup to get ahold of one. Think of when PS5's and XBOXsX came out, it'll be like that.

Does it have to be a Laptop, Korey? It sounds like you can use a gaming PC which will be better than a laptop. I'm curious because you don't seem like someone who would bring a laptop with them during a vacation or while prepping a show in NY or else where. You consume shows to catch up on to discuss in flights, but fuck it, man, I'm just curious. Desktop PCs have smaller form factors thanks to mini and micro ATX motherboards (the only big part will be the GPU and cooler). The only downside is you'd have to spend a little more for a monitor if you don't want to hook it up to a tv of yours. Indiana Jones is high demanding and I'm not sure it's due to poor optimization or just blowout texture demands. a 4060 isn't that strong either. And I wouldn't be surprised if that 4060 is a mobile formfactor or underclocked because it's on a laptop. A 3080 still holds up- especially if you get one with a lot of vRam on it. I'd drive to Austin from CA to set it up for you since I love road trips, hah.

If you don't need portability, a PC will have more power. If you need a laptop, I'd highly consider one with a Windows ARM chip. Make sure the software apps you use have a native ARM version.

Aside from brand, Korey, I would recommend you invest in a SOLID STATE hard drive laptop. The reason being? Most laptops that are pushed for discounts and/or sales are the regular hard drive types; most laptops with regular hard drives these days only last 5-7 years maximum. I ought to know, I had two different Dell laptops. The first one I got for Christmas 2010, it finally went kaput sometime in January 2017. Then when I got another laptop in 2017, it went out in June 2022. And that was despite the fact that I took them to a major computer repair shop chain and there was nothing they could do to repair either one of them. The computer I am typing this on is a spare Lenovo desktop computer that a friend of mine just let me have. I have no idea if or when I will ever get another laptop, but if I did, it would be one with the solid state hard drive.
