@@YourChicGeek I keep getting this error Cover Resize the background or image on your cover so that it extends 0.125” (3.2 mm) beyond the trim line. All covers must be sized for bleed, which means you need to add an extra 0.125" (3.2 mm) along the top, bottom, and sides of your cover file. Once you have increased the size of your cover, extend any images or backgrounds that you want to reach all the way to the edge of the page 0.125” (3.2 mm) beyond the trim line. This prevents manufacturing issues when the cover is trimmed to size.

Great video! I love that you showed the COMPLETE process of using the tool to get the dimensions and then went into Canva to create the template. When I was first starting KDP in December, I was looking for something detailed like this! I'm sure it will help a lot of people getting started because that bleed/no bleed stuff can be confusing for first-timers. It was for me when I first got going.

There is a small difference in the sizes between amazon calculator and tangent Templates specifically in the heights. Let me explain Let's take this size 8x10 in with bleed On amazon calculator You said that we have to add 0.125 to the width and the height to create the interior Amazon calculator "width" 8+0.125= 8.125 in " Height" 10+0.125= 10.125 in Tanget template Automatically we get "Width" 8.125 in "Hieght" 10.25 in So there is a difference in the height First is 10.125 in Second is 10.25 in Which one is correct For me I think tanget template size is correct

Hey there! I dont turn on bleed in Canva on my covers. I just upload and use the cover template from KDP in png format and stretch it out over my cover design to make sure that everything is aligned correctly and etc. Hope this helps!

I am wondering about "Gutter"; is there a point where I need to consider what amount of the page is going down in the spine. I read a review of a children's work book and the buyer expressed frustration that it was very hard to write in because of the writing space disappearing into the gutter. I just uploaded my first book yay! it was not a competitive book but actually something I'd use myself and just wanted to learn how to do it. But I had one annoying issue. I used the KDP cover templateI downloaded on Canva to make sure my cover design was perfectly centred and within all the lines. Then when I uploaded it to KDP it was off-centre in the preview (too far to the left) so I moved things a little in canva and uploaded it again. Then when I finally published onto my KDP bookshelf it looked off-centre again in the 'review' image (again too far left) !! I was so frustrated especially as I spent so much time on it. Has this ever happened to you and can you let me know how do I avoid this?

This happened to me too which is how I ended up at this video. I did use the KDP book cover set to the correct dimensions, downloaded it and uploaded it into Canva to make my cover. Everything looked great but when I uploaded it to KDP for publishing I received an error and BOY was it ever an error. My text was WAY off of the page.

@@bdavison31 Hey Brook. Since I wrote this comment I worked out how to fix this issue. On Canva make your cover as normal using the KDP template as a guideline. When you upload it on KDP preview even if it looks off-centre leave it alone! It will look just fine when printed 😊

Is the AMZ KDP Previewer broken for anyone else in regards to cutting off the cover height? I made a 9.25", 9.5", and even a 10" high cover - all with appropriate bleeds built in - for the 6x9 paperback and no matter what size I export, the AMZ previewer cuts the bottom of the cover off at the same exact spot with each file I have tried uploading so there is a white gap at the bottom of my file to the bleed marks in the previewer. I feel like this shouldn't be happening when l make the file and export one inch longer than what will be printed...

Hey there! So with the upload process there are two files that you need to upload and calculate dimensions for. The first is the cover file and the second is the interior file. Your cover file will automatically be printed in color and the interior can be in black and white. Hope this helps!

I would honestly avoid public domain books like the plague. Too many folks have had their accounts terminated for using this type of content. Just my opinion.

Hello there! It sounds like you may be using a Pen Name or Author name that is not good for Amazon. You may need to change that up or you can actually email the KDP content review team and ask them if they can tell you what the issue is. They are pretty good at responding to those requests. Thanks for the video. One question, why do you need to make inside cover for the book? I thought we could just upload one page file that shows the entire cover page. Is that mean you upload two pages for book cover? Im just a beginner so please help..

hi, I have books that are both hardcover and paperback. Sometimes the paperback is not approved even though the hardcover is approved, or the other way round. For interior I mean I use the same pdf, bleed, and still sometimes it gets approved, sometimes stubbornly doesn't. What is the issue? please?

my cover has the same dimensions as the Cacluater show and I extended the photo and still getting the error of adding 0.125 and can't understand this as the follow every video and all put the same full cover dimensions as get out from the cover calculator from Amazon

I am having a problem with my cover. This is the problem. Remove all crop marks and color bars from your cover file. Crop marks are lines showing where pages should be trimmed. Color bars are strips with a series of patches used to ensure color balance during printing. Remove all template text and guides from your cover file. How can I fix this?

Hello there! This means that you left the template somewhere on your cover. This is the template that you use to check your margins and etc.

Thank you for this video. So, I can't wrap my head around this part. I"ve read a book or few hundred in my life. For the life of me, I can't figure out how it makes sense to choose page turn left to right. I definitely take the page on the right and turn it to the left. I am not grasping the concept. I do choose left to right on Amazon because I know that's what gets me the results but HOW IS THAT CORRECT? Does anyone else think this? How am I not getting this?
