Thank you so much for your generosity in making this awesome video. I've just retired from a career in marketing, and you my friend, are the real deal. So now I'm going to take my passion for creating riddle contests for communities, and create some brain busting books. And who knows? Maybe there's some passive income in my future as well. I will pay your kindness forward by sharing what I learn with others. YOU ROCK!

You maintain the copyright. Amazon only operates as the distributor. For more details, you can read the terms and conditions of Amazon KPD.

Thank you for the useful information, especially the bleed option, you made it simple to understand, I watched long videos for others about bleed and did not quite understood them like I understood your video. I have some questions, 1-how do I publish my book on amazon in both kindle and print on demand at the same time so both options appear in same page for the buyer? 2- one of my books is 8.5*8.5 and contain 243 pages all pages are bleed, in this case what about the binding size? 3- did you choose the pages inside glossy or matt, they look great. 5- I didn't understand the "royal" thing, for example, if I sell my book for $12 how much I get 6- Finally, do I get the payment after each purchase, or monthly for all purchases each month? Sorry for all these questions :)))
@peerthroughmedia Жыл бұрын
Hey, 1. Hmm, not sure. I'm sure its possible though. 2. I believe they have a chart that tells you the binding size based on pages: kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/GVBQ3CMEQW3W2VL6 3. I can't remember, I think you only chose the cover as glossy or mat though and the pages are what they are. 5. Once you set up your book it will tell you exactly how much you make per sale in each region. 6. It direct deposits into your bank account each month.

Thank you so much for this! how does Amazon determine postage costs? is there a flat rate or determined via buyers location? For example if I sell to someone in Australia would I make more back compared to selling to someone in say the USA? as it would cost Amazon more to ship internationally?
@peerthroughmedia Жыл бұрын
Amazon has print houses all around the world. So they take care of the shipping. In the backend, it will tell you how much you make in each market. That includes them deducting whatever they deduct for postage.

Also, I made a test copy pdf (132 pages bw drawings every second page) and the pdf became 2gb! Nice. Thank you! As to your question, I think that depends on the publisher and your unique situation. To make an educated guess though, I would assume it lowers your chances of a publisher taking you on if your book is already out there.

Good video, thanks for the information. I have a question about the fonts used for making a book. Did you purchase all of the fonts used in your printed work to make sure you have full licensing? Part of the KDP information mentions something about this, and being able to embed the fonts. I am on the first step of a very tall staircase for creating my own children's book, and trying to absorb as much details as possible. Thank you.
@PeerThroughMedia12 жыл бұрын
Yo yo, thanks. Yes, definitely own all the fonts you add to yoru book (or make sure they are free to use).
@Shrimp_Insurance2 жыл бұрын
If you're using photoshop to compile your book you automatically purchase the rights to use the default fonts commercially, other fonts you'll have to buy (but they shouldn't be very expensive)
@peerthroughmedia2 жыл бұрын
Nice! Appreciate the extra insight!
@leahbrigman80682 жыл бұрын
Is the illustrator the one that added the text to you pages or is this something you can do on kdp during publishing? Do they have nice fonts like that to add?
@peerthroughmedia2 жыл бұрын
You add it before publishing in photoshop. So either you or the illustrator. I don’t think there is much in terms of design when it comes to amazing kdp. You upload the finished pdf and then just proof it through their platform (at least when it comes to picture books)

Do you or anyone know if I can just get the ISBN # and have my book printed myself and just sell it on my amazon seller account? I've been selling used and new books on Amazon for years, and many times when the price of the book goes down, they de-activate my listing until I bring my price down to match the lowest. This worries me that they might do that with my book. Anybody know?

is there a minimum page requirement? I have a book I'm working on thats gonna run 15 pages will that be acceptable?
@peerthroughmedia3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's 24 pages. But you'll need things like the opening copyright page, probably a duplicate of the title, maybe a thank you page, a blank page at the beginning and end might work. (They limit how many blank pages you can have). So you can likely make a book that is 15 pages of content stretch to 24.

Not a lawyer/didn’t look into it, so unsure- but HIGHLY doubt it. Amazon biz would be more interested in keeping authors on their platform than taking small author IP. Wouldn’t be worth their time or the bad PR

You can browse around and look. I looked at Barnes & Novel and they own the ISBN. I don't think Amazon does from what I remembered on my research. Best thing to do is get your book Copyright first via the government before putting it online. That way no one can try any funny business because it is legally yours.

@peerthroughmedia3 жыл бұрын
Im not entirely sure I understand. You can only have so many blank pages in your book though. So KDP is not really an option for things like workbooks or blank journals. As for copyright law, no idea really. Usually once you publish something you have a copyright as "you're the first to use it in commerce" - but I am far from a lawyer so take that with a grain of salt.
