Great review, now I need someone with kids who do chores around the house to tell me how this works. Because, that would be the real test for me. They say they listen to you yes but thats only to bettee the ai not to spy on you wow ive had 6 of them for a year now and i love it and if your worried about what gets said theres a mute but on echos and both a mute button and camera off button for the shows but im not here to tell you what you should or shouldn't do thats just my appinion

The mic is fine… the room is untreated / reverberating. A different and more visible mic could eliminate some of the room sound but that comes with a different visual aesthetic.

I wonder if this means they will get rid of skills like "ask my buddy" which is kinda like the paid version of calling people you know, if you fall or need help? It doesn't do anything with emergency services. But one of your family members attached to the My Buddy skill could do that too... All for much less than 20 a month.

My fear is that some Amazon board member will decide to shake things up by deciding that all previous Alexa devices will no longer work and everyone is expected to shell out $200 for the newest version. If it makes you feel any better, amazon's stated policy is to support devices for at least 4 years after the device was last available for sale brand-new. eg: since the fire tv cube from 2019 is still available as a new product, they'll keep supporting it until at least 2026. That's a service life of 7 years. Mind, it may not get all the new features that newer devices with better hardware can get, but they don't want to remove features either.

Any voice assistant video without significant mention of the privacy implications of new features AKA, how the specific data is used, I feel is irresponsible. Don’t need to exaggerate but not mentioning it at all is negligent for a media outlet as big as CNET. Now the next part of this comment is my opinion. Any product or service by Google, Amazon and Facebook should automatically require a deep dive before promoting or talking about it. Or have a disclaimer for people to research certain parts themselves so that even if it doesn’t work for your audience, people are advised that there are privacy implications to look into and that they should before using the services.

This is one more reason not to buy a new Alexia. I had one several years back and I kept catching it listening. I unplugged it and may have thrown it away. My mom threw hers away about 3 years ago because it would start talking about random things in the middle of the night. I know this company will sell every bit of information. No thanks.

My samsung dryer has a wrinkle saving mode that beeps when the clothes are done and only plays the trout when the door is open that would probably work the alexa routine I don't have the samsung washer just a old one that has a loud tone my neighbor can probably hear lol
