Very useful, we have the echo 8 setup for our elderly parents on their 1st floor and the dot on their second floor. They can call us in an emergency! 👍👍👍 one problem was our number wasn’t showing up when they call someone, it was showing another long distance number!

If you group the dot with other speakers, say the living room Sonos, and ask Alexa to play music, set a timer, etc., can you have it to where the sound only comes from the Sonos and the inferior dot speaker is disabled? I basically want the dot to be a microphone controller.

Hey Steve, great content on your channel thanks for putting this out there! I have a technical question which I was hoping you could help me out with. I have 2 echo dots 5th gen and a echo show 10. I have added them all on my alexa app on the same Wi-Fi network and can see them under devices. What I'm attempting to do is link separate Spotify Premium accounts to play each devices music independently of each other and still retain functionality such as announcements. Is there a way to do this? I have made multiple attempts at this but on each occasion the music will stop on one and start on the other device.

Nicely laid out. Question for you or for others before I hit Reddit.... Currently using two on the patio setup under the Home Theatre option from a Firestick 4k. I am moving to an Nvidia Shirld Pro and I cannot figure how to maintain the Home Theatre setup or output to a Speaker group as these two speakers (I don't need the seperate channels). Can this be done still? I read you can still output audio to the Firestick which would then output to the "Home Theatre" setup, but I can't figute out how. Or, how to output bluetooth to a speaker group. Appreciate any help.

Good video, but.....how do you go about subscribing to 'Plus'? Not sure if Alexa app is very different compared to UK. I tried to set temperature settings to either 'cooler' or 'heater' - if temperature is high or low, my devices is suppose operate, but it doesn't do anything under routines. 😒

Please check app menu. Go to „more“ , click „routines“… I can imagine there is one enabled. Maybe „Alexa, delete all routines“ or „Delete all reminders“ „ delete all alarms“ could help, too. But this will delete every command from the particular category that has been set before. Hope that helps

I will add the possibility to have different wake up alarm times for different days of the week. Most advanced alarm clocks has monday-friday and saturday to sunday and the same all days. That does not work for my son that in school has a later start om mondays and he needs all the sleep he can get and you know how terns are. Want to stat up late.

I am having problems with the communication making phone calls. I am setting up for an elderly couple that are going blind. It used to work now it only allows a few phone numbers. When I deleted a couple of double numbers it now tells me I can't until they reset data. Do you have any help for this. Alexa used to be a great resource for my elderly clients now it's just a paper weight.

Try opening the App, Devices, Select the one where you would love to have this feature enabled. click the gear symbol, there must be some subsection labeled ´general´ ( sorry, if that is not the correct term, i am using a different language on mine), and there you will find gestures that you can enable or disable. hope that helps.

I’m not 100% sure but I think you can say: **Alexa, announce [your announcement message] to [group/device name]** For example, Alexa, announce it’s time to go to the kids room. I’ll try to test it soon but if you test it first please let us know your results.

@@SteveDOES maybe this feature has been removed for some reason or I’m just completely misremembering and this has never been the case. The latter seems more likely. Providing the phase is the same every time, you could set this up using a routine then you don’t have to announce to every Echo device. Hope that helps

It sounds like you have a routine set. Open the Alexa app, select your device, select "More", then "Routines" to manage/delete them

Hi Steve I'm new to Alexa sometimes when I ask a question the replies are so wrong it's hard to believe. Here's an example - I'm planning a drive I ask Alexa "what's the weather on Bowes Moor UK tomorrow morning. So the answer comes back "The weather in Bowes park part of a US state sorry can't remember which one is cold and rainy temp can't remember "err I'm in the UK not the USA oh the answer had a date attached to it - some time in 2021 omg !!! In the Alexa app, go to the Devices tab at the bottom and select your Echo Device. Click the gear icon in the top right corner and scroll down to 'Device Location'. This is were it should pull information based off of that location.
