At some point, DIY comes into play and most people who buy these want to see how they perform with the included power supply. I understand the curiosity and have it as well, so we'll see...

I would also be interested to see what kind of power it can make off of Big D's amp dyno battery bank, if it works at all, just for curiosities sake.
@maxxlr8tion5782 жыл бұрын
Likely not enough voltage, amps input range was 19-32v.
@2010HarleyDynaFXD2 жыл бұрын
@@jutin2001 if you series 3 car batteries it would be over 38v not sure if it would hurt the amplifier by overpowering it a little over 6 volts.
@jutin20012 жыл бұрын
@@2010HarleyDynaFXD with normal batteries you would be correct, but those are 14 volt batteries, so you would end up in the 42 to 45 volt range. I wouldn't expect big d to completely redo his bank to get to the proper voltage, I was just curious if the amp would run on that low of voltage. A lot of these amps have pretty large voltage ranges for operation. As was said above, the low end of the voltage range is 19 volts so it most likely wouldn't even power on.

I got this for Christmas, the one with the blue tooth antenna, paid $85 It’s sounds great, I use it on big 12” technics floor speakers, they are 200 watt speakers, good bass and sound without a sub. With a sub it’s a lot of sound. It’s great for a house party or possibly a warehouse. It’s loud and I haven’t had any issue running it for hours

After a careful consideration, mostly from all the positive reviews on US Amazon, I bought one of these a couple of years ago. Was so blown away by how good it sounded, I bought another one with the Bluetooth antenna. I actually originally wanted it for the USB playback, as this would provide superior sound quality. It's powerful, and loud. I have some large peak 500 watt speakers in my shed, that a previous system of mine, just could not get any decent sound out of. This brought them to life. I only put the volume just over quarter, bass just over half way. That is more than enough for the neighbours neighbours to feel the vibes. I tried the Bluetooth, but that did not compare to the sound quality from the USB. As mentioned sound quality is superb, can't fault it. Flac files play with no issues at all. On the negative the USB does not recognise folders. It will just play everything in the order they were added to the USB. So like the playback on the USB Denon systems, which do play folders, you will need to drag and drop in artist alphabetical order, if you want them to play that way. I have had it playing for a few hours, it got warm, but nothing more than that.
@samwise4me903 Жыл бұрын
I just purchased one of these, to use with my gaming computer. The line output from the computer tower was fed into the RCA inputs because I couldn't get the Bluetooth to pair. The speaker outputs were connected to a pair of $100 bookshelf speakers with 6.5 inch woofers and 1 inch dome tweeters. They sit just 3 inches off the floor on a grate, with a 6.5 inch powered subwoofer (cost $50 new 14 years ago) between them connected to the amp's subwoofer output. I sit just two and a half feet away. The results were better than expected, especially since the main speakers are air-suspension (sealed cabinet). Very loud and very clean. I would say this amp is an excellent choice for use with computers.

Tons of thanks for doing these reviews. I've been hoping someone would 'scope' these amps. 53 watts @ 8 Ohms RWS per channel is really good. If you need more than that, you need a larger house, or hearing aids. I have the Douk audio 2.0 mini amp I got in 2019, and it's still going strong. It's powering Klipsch R51M speakers and all the volume I need. The one I have has the Texas Instruments 3116D amp rated at 50 watts per channel RMS at 4 OHMs. Texas Instruments 3116D spec sheet: 2 x 21W Into a 8-Ω BTL Load at 19 V (TPA3116D2) 2 x 26W Into a 8-Ω BTL Load at 21 V (TPA3116D2) 2 x 34W Into a 8-Ω BTL Load at 24 V (TPA3116D2) The reason Douk doesn't sell the maximum power brick with the amps is because they know you won't hear any difference. They were very honest when I talked with them about that and said it was cheaper to sell with a lower power brick, and their tests showed no audible difference. And, they are correct since in order to increase decibels by 3, you need x2 power.

Whoa, that 2ohm output got serious for a second there! I wonder if the "protection" trip was from the power supply and internal caps running out of extra juice creating a fairly sharp voltage dropout. I definitely would like to see what this thing can do with more input power. For things like this and for your "lab" have a look at a adjustable, portable bench power supply. I got a very nice unit that can do 0-36v and 0-10 amps...so roughly 350w max for under $100. Worth every penny, I can't believe I didn't get one sooner!

I use these amps quite a bit...solid units. Why did you play music with the bass/treble tone controls not at the middle ("0") setting? You have them both turned all the way to the left. Also, I run these Douk Audio M1 amps with a 12v to 36v (10a) step-up DC-to-DC booster. Much better power output and there are zero issues with blowing caps/burning things up. The included 32v power adapter is alright...but, with a 36v (10a) booster...uncorks the power even more. Curious if it would get all the way up to 160w @ 2 ohms in your test at 36v.

I've had this one for a while and currently use it mostly with an AT-LP120XBT-USB-BK record player and a pair of Advent Baby II speakers that were recently refoamed. The RCA input sounds really good and gets to a decent volume without distortion and there is good mid-bass in this setup but not much in the low bass as I'm not using a sub and the Advents don't get terribly low. I've not used the USB input, and I find the audio quality of the bluetooth and the connectivity to be pretty poor. Tone controls are a nice feature and work well. I agree that the build quality is solid and I like the idea of using the banana clips as the binding posts are kind of cheap but definitely better then spring clips.

So am interesting issue I've run into with most small amps is they'll have a big issue driving low frequency. It would be interesting to see the do it bump through a full range set of speakers. Like something with a paper 12" woofer. Or is there's lower frequency test tone that could be used? Say 30hz to try to see how hard these things are rolling off?

These are not made for driving massive speakers, hence the subwoofer output.
@swicked862 жыл бұрын
@@kriptic22 that's understandable but larger speakers tend to be more efficient so it would be interesting to know if they have anything cutting off sounds below 120hz. I've noticed several of these make speakers sound like they are a small radio.

I run this amp with old technics 3 way floor speakers with 12” woofers, they are 200w speakers. I do have a sub but it’s usually off…. The bass response is amazing for what this amp is, comparable to any stereo amp(most are 100wpc max) so at 80 per channel its plenty of power for my garage. Most woofers won’t get down to 30.

I bought the smaller 50 watt per channel version and promptly sent it back to Amazon for a refund. No 'oomph' on the low end whatsoever which is shown by the max power output on the dyno always being the same. Goes straight to distortion when the bass picks up. Makes sense as there are no large capacitors in the power supply to handle a sudden demand.

I haven't been able to figure out why people think you need a bigger amplifier for larger speakers. Normally the exact opposite is true given the construction is the same you'll have greater volume from the bigger speaker so it'll require less power. I'm not looking for subsonic, just full range. I really appreciate the comment about this, especially the return to Amazon on one of the mini amplifiers. I was running a chip amp on very nice older speaker and it seriously it sounded like I was listening to a very loud transistor radio.

Could you test those 12v AK380 amps on eBay and amazon? I always wondered how they tested compared to the more expensive budget mini amps but have never found any information on them.

Five watts per channel difference a little concerning there. I could see maybe one watt. Thanks for the video I’m looking to tear apart a pair of speakers and mount them and custom boxes this is the type of amp that might work but I don’t like the channel wattage difference. Thanks for the video keep it up That way I don’t have to buy my own Dyno

You missed that one channel is for the subwoofer, there is where you will find the other 160 watts

No. It's a line-out RCA connector.

@@deecee2837 Oh ok, I thought it is a 3 way amp

They should make one with inputs and a function switch, similar to the Realistic/Radio Shack jobs of the past.

Whats up ooold school. Love your content brother. I was wondering if you have any experience with the zeus genX 650w amps? Are the zed design and any good?

The old school equipment you used to review, now that was worth my time. Why do you even review crap like this?

I was just noticing the content on your bluetooth app in your phone. What does BBC hook up to lol!

Hi, thanks for the video. I think I'm looking for something like this, but would like something where the volume was controlled via Bluetooth rather than a manual volume control on the front. Would you have any recommendations on this front?

Love how the only thing that makes these things "mini", is the fact the PSU isnt integrated into the enclosure. I am so waiting for these guys to finally produce a model with a properly rated PSU inside the box. Of these amazon brands, id say I like "TOPPING" over the rest.

Pretty sure the acclaimed Aiyima A08 has a built-in power supply.

Huge fan of your home/pro audio amp tests, can you please do one on the Technical pro ax1200? It claims to be 1200 watts and only goes for like 90 bucks on ebay, so obviously I've got my doubts.

I would like to see that too

Cool! I have a unit similar to this made by Dayton (DTA-2.1BT2) that has a claimed output of 100w for sub out, and 2x50W for stereo. I know this is not RMS, but it would be interesting to know the true performance. It does not have a usb player feature, but it has two inputs +Bluetooth, and sub vol and tone knobs. It sounds quite good, and looks clean.

Thanks for your review. I think I may get this, has pretty much all the features I need for a garage amp. Do you thing the SQ would be about as good as an old vintage Fisher receiver?

I'm thinking about running something like this into a crown, as pre amp. Think this would be a good option Big D? Not really wanting to go $500 receiver route.

I'd love to see Wuzhi Audio zK-1002 dynoed. Claims 100w X 2. It's sounds great just want to see what it really puts out.
