So you wanna buy a cheap amazon hygrometer to throw in your mason jars when curing, BUT they can have slightly different readings right out the box. I always do this to check them and make sure im monitoring the right RH in the jars

Hey bro, good tip! I bought the ones that look the same but a 12 pack for $22. Sometimes will drop 2 in a jar and see if reading the same. I also found the humidity packs by ZUUT are 10 for $10. They use a plant based material so there's no off odor that Bovida can get. Not saying they're any better, just sharing another option. No sponsorship here but I'd take one lol. Great Video! Explained super well! However, I have an issue with my meters. Whenever they are in ambient air, 2 of them are 1% off from each other and a 3rd meter is 5 & 6% off from those. Weirdly enough, when I put them all in an airtight plastic container with regular salt mix for test (even with insulation below container to not affect the temp from table) all 3 meters show the exact same number - 77%. Any ideas why this would be happening?

you can reuse the Bovida packs by submersing them in distilled water for 24 hrs. and drying right after. that will rehydrate them back to original setting.

I got the 4 pack. I'm trying to troubleshoot my new incubator for eggs! I put 6 different type digital/electrical (some w/cords, some battery op.) hygrometers to the damn incubator and they all say a different story apart 2-3 degrees in temp, and humidity is somewhat correct. The temp. is more important. I just got on day 7 the 4 pack minis. Then I added 2 from the 4 pack mini hygrometers into the incubator. Yeah. They say different stuff. Ball park: I'm seeking 99.5F, 55% humidity ideally. I set the incubator at 101, no leaks I can find (although I was told it should be 100F, with a high of factory 103F, but I'm hatching game bird eggs, not chickens), and the best hygrometer temp. is the one I got with the 3 red dots on the bottom part of the unit that does C/F degrees, Min/Max and In/out. (now I'm getting perve thoughts, that's how tired I am!!!) lol! My head is exhausted! F-this! I'm at day 7, and a basic fluctuation of 98-102F (wanted also at 37C) with a need for 55% humidity which varies from 40-70% since the piece of crap incubator I got only has a guess-it-water-tray-thing!!! That's why I went crazy and got so many different temp./hygrometers from different companies along with even a digital roasting thermometer (?!!!) [for a private joke I put it on poultry, it doesn't matter since I'm going for ambient temp. anyway] which also told me basically the same story! It's the +/- 1 to 2% B.S. that is screwing with my poor little nearly obsolete head!!! Shit! Any suggestions? I swear. I just round it all off. But.......

with water in the bag it will climb high for sure .. usually 100% .. if you looking for the accuracy i would use those two way packs that will get the inside of the bag to whatever rh% you have

I am so confused. When I put the hydrometer in the bag the humidity stays at 58….. when I take it out it goes up… then drops back down. My question is…. WHY THE F ISNT MY HUMIDITY Going UP IN A SEALED BAG.

sprinkle some water in there (or spray some) .. it should go up then .. in theory if you open the bag and the air that’s in the bag is the room air it won’t go up .. if you have one of those humidity bags it still takes a few minutes to get to it’s true reading ..

@@420Things ok I’ll try the water. No I have a regular ziplock bag. All the videos are telling me to put the hydrometer into a ziplock bag with some salt and after 24 hours it will go up t0 75… well after 24h l nothing has changed and it’s still the same reading.

That thing is only $ 0.7 8:00 wow that thing is quite accurate. I read can also use salt, havent tried it though, half tablespoon of salt, put a few drops of water , just dampen it not soaking it, put in small container, it should be exactly 75.
