Best Hygrometer For Humidor

I’ve always had the best luck with the hydro-set hygrometers. They’ve all been pretty accurate right out of the box. Plus if calibration is needed it’s available. I hate hygrometers that can’t be calibrated like some newer ones.

I hate that too.. after I perform saltl test I add a little sticker on all of them for adjustment. Either add few points or minus few points pf % as you reading it

Thanks for the nice video. I wonder if it possible that the way you had these units placed flat on their backs blocked the convection of air into the devices? That may explain why the numbers went up a on a couple when you picked them up.

I like my caliber 4r works pretty well so far. had it for a little over a month. pretty accurate. I also have a review of it on my channel!

I am irritated I had a small same small circular black one that you have in the video but it does not let me switch to Fahrenheit

This is really cheap hydrometer so that's why they have a lot off defects. I had total of three of them. One was 5% off another one 8% off and the third one died eventually. :)

My friend, I am not trying to beat you up or embarrass you, but you have no idea as to which hygrometer is working or not working. The "salt test" is completely and utterly worthless and unreliable because you have no idea as to what the humidity level is inside that leaky Ziploc bag. You have no quality control mechanism in place in this test which means the entire test is unreliable and tells you NOTHING. One hygrometer could be reading 20% and it might be the only hygrometer that's actually working because you have no quality control mechanism to tell you otherwise. Get a Boveda pack of known relative humidity and place it with your hygrometers in a well-sealed container and then compare after 24 hours. The Boveda pack is your quality control (QC). Without QC, you have NOTHING. The salt test isn't doing anything but creating a salty, moist environment which is ruining the internal mechanisms of every hygrometer in that bag.

I understand and respect your point of view sir. I don't know your background to judge your knowledge. But my knowledge and research telling me that in general test do work !!... Been to anal about it have no point... What I'm doing in this video, are comparing few hydrometers, showing the differences between them, un-boxing and taking a closer look. Keeping hygrometer in salty environment will NOT ruining the internal mechanisms.... unless u keeping it there for days... witch that's not what i did and don't recommend to do.. just few hours.. come on! Ziploc bag wasn't leaky and even if it was, it had micro cracks or hols that will have supper little effect on the test (just like every humidor have a micro leaks...). NOW what i did wrong in this video is that i didn't kept Temperature stable and locked at 70F... Temperature have big effect on humidity level, if its high - humidity level will raise, if temperature start dropping - humidity level will do too.

Thank you for the video, this was very helpful. Yeah, in the controlled environment of a bag you can take the average of them and assume that is about the correct humidity. We aren't proving that a cancer treatment works, just need the humidity reading to not suck.
