It's a flaw of corporations. They need to look out for their bottom line and that translates to shitty policies. It is a demanding job I hear to be in the warehouse or a driver but honestly its good pay at the end of the day. Great that people have the opportunity to actually make a living working with Amazon unlike with other companies.

People can get almost anything they could possibly want delivered directly to them in a matter of hours with 1 click on a website. If you actually quantify his effect on the world and how much he improved efficiency then it seems perfectly reasonable that his contribution should make him the wealthiest person. Same for Bill Gates, almost every company, school and individual is using Microsoft software.

JahTha god No one is holding a gun to their head and forcing them to work at Amazon. If they don't like the working conditions they should find a different job or learn a skill or trade. You can learn to code literally for free online and make websites among other things. People complaining about their jobs are going to complain regardless. The workers at Amazon won't have to complain much longer though since automation will take over

These local shops can go by the wayside for all I care. I’m black and they can be very annoying. I come to your store say bi weekly for years without incident, but you want to follow me around in your cramped store? I know one group of people that couldn’t care less about certain local stores due to our mistreatment. Besides, these days you can create a website and sell your goods online or you can sell through Amazon so there’s that.

It would be to his benefit. The more hunger is gone, the more people have time to start worrying about things like getting educating. And since the population gets more educated, the standard of living will increase and as a result, Amazon will be used more frequently in paces previously neglected, like in very poor parts of Southeast Asia and Africa. More sales from that as well as good PR on his part, driving sales further from already existing customers.

I love all you idiots saying he's making so much but not giving his lowly employees. First and foremost, he makes absolutely none of those decisions, he only owns 16% and therefore doesn't have final say on anything and most likely doesn't handle things so menial as employee salaries in his free time. Second thing is once you give to someone you have to give to everyone, and once you do that, you're not rich anymore.

@Slightly Intriguing Do you really think the warehouse workers could have the vision or persistence to start the company 20 years ago with their own personal savings and working it up during the next 25 years to this state. 90 percent of businesses fail. He took a huge risk by quitting his 6 fig job at a finance company to start an online business in freaking 1994. No, I bet the 40 years old warehouse workers were trying to get a useless degree ( yeah, some degrees are useless and many people do take ownership of their future because they are irresponsible) while partying in frat parties. Read a little bit about entrepreneurs before actually commenting about them. God! People these days are so entitled. Do you expect him to hand in the operations of a billion dollar company which he built by his own sweat and tears to a buncha warehouse workers with zero management experience or the ambition to attain that experience. It those worker wanted a better job, they could have get it. They just wanted to live and average life. A life of sloth. I worked a full time min wage job (renovation) during the summer before my college. On the side, I got a Customer service management cert and now I mange a call center as my part time job. I did this while still preparing for my CS deg. I know you all had similar experiences. So don't give me "They don't have the time to improve their skills" reason. They had time when they were college students. Instead of working hard, they chose to f**k around (literally). Know they world wants to appreciate their efforts by f**king them back.

Wealthy people are so clueless about what to do with their wealth, it's like they dont even notice, their ego is not the possesion of wealth but they have a weird specific limitless hunger of just more, just more, until they cant go further, then what happens after that? They dont know how to live life they only know how to chase the "more". Time is short folks enjoy what you have and everyone is equal time wise so no one is richer than another, some young folks die from accidents, older people dont have an enjoyable quality as life as much, middle aged people are always working, the only one who is the winner is the one who uses everything he has for a purpose and preparation for what happens after life. Which will happen to everyone. Has death ever forgotten someone? No. Wealth hasn't either. Be greateful, a good attitude is worth more than worldly wealth.

You sound ignorant. Wealthy people know exactly what to do with their wealth. That's how they got wealthy in the first place. Do you think he's doing this just for himself? His family won't have to work for the next few generations. That frees people up to do so much more than be stuck in the rat race. Since you're so much smarter than Bezos, what would you do with your wealth?

Of course it's fine, money is not the most important priority for Bezos and by extension Amazon. It has always been the customer since day 1. Sure, you'll find people complaining about working at Amazon, performance improvement plans, managers using leadership principles as decoys but the company's standing today pretty much speaks for itself.
