@@alexanderbrand3041 The first second and fourth ones were bad, the third one was nothing special. The second is clearly a cheap stamped pos. The first one is just meh really, but as a chef the things he was saying about it were only ticking negatives for me. The fourth is just stupid, the tip makes it useless as a cleaver and the cleaver bits make it too unwieldy to be a chef knife, it'd be like sticking an axe head on the end of a rapier. The third one is just a run of the mill nothing special cleaver with a few flaws but no huge weaknesses. I don't hold their dullness against them for any of the knives, nor the lack of cutting skill.

Funnily enough about a month ago I was talking with some knife maker friends and was having a laugh about all manner of tactical garbage and pointed out that most knife offences are perpetrated by someone with a cheap kitchen knife and not by people who buy expensive hand made knives. As someone making expensive kitchen knives I was sort of given a challenge as a joke of making the 'domestic defense' knife. Well, after some research- I've got two 14th century Hauswehrs and two 15th century Bauernwehrs on my work bench made out of some extremely tough, high alloy tool steels capable of daintily cutting up your meat and 3 veg, chopping clean through a beef bone and punching very large holes through 2mm of mild steel without any deformation. Essentially Joerg's ancestors solved the whole home defense kitchen knife problem many centuries ago :)

I had a great idea for a project you could work on. Make something the size of a large flashlight. Inside the cylinder, there is a powerful spring. The spring is attached to some kind of compression mechanism. From the bottom of the cylinder, you can use a power drill to compress the spring. Inside the cylinder you can load bolts or ball bearings, press a button and shoot. It would be cool to see how powerful this thing would be.

German inspection agent: So this is intended to be a kitchen knife? Joerg dangerously wielding the Dalstrong Gladiator Series: Ja

It actually makes sense. Many people do kitchen prep work in the dark in their bedrooms...at night...while asleep. So the government would create a hardship by banning cooking hardware in that context.

Unbelievable how you can't keep a weapon by your bedside. Surely thisbis one of those rules that everyone breaks

The smile on Jörg's face when the zombie head got split 😆 But I don't think I can get even near the hacking force of Jörg. Especially if stressed. So I guess the zombie will end up winning. I wish a sawed off shotgun was allowed - that would give me a better chance in a zombie fight.

I’m not sure if I got it wrong, but given what Jörg mentioned, it seems to me that in Germany: 1. One can legally use self-defense weapons in self-defense. 2. Meanwhile, one cannot keep said weapons on one’s nightstand. 3. Since cutlery items don’t count as self-defense weapons, they can be kept on one’s nightstand. In particular, how does pt. 2 make any sense? No occasion is more appropriate than home defense for using a weapon in self-defense; if you need to go into another room to grab your weapon you may already be toast. (Is it to prevent people killing someone when half-awake?)

I love how you come up with great defense ideas in a country that has so many regulations against defense weapons. Here in West Virginia, USA, we have a lot of freedom for home defense. We actually have laws that protect us in a home defense situation. One is called a castle law. Basically gives us the right to defend our "castle". Your vehicle is also covered under the castle law. It's also legal here for WV residents to conceal carry firearms with no need for a permit. So long as the individual can legally own a firearm. When convicted of a felony, you lose your right to own firearms. I keep a pistol on the dresser beside my bed and beside the dresser is a dagger and a sword. Then near the entry way to my home in a hidden place I keep several weapons. A rifle, a carbine, a sword and an aluminum softball bat. I couldn't imagine living somewhere that I couldn't keep self defense weapons in easily accessible locations. Gun laws only protect criminals. Criminals don't care about the laws.

I saw the thumbnail and was like, "JOERG GOT MY KNIFE!! LOL" I own a Dalstrong Crixus and it is a BEAST. I actually used it at work today. My coworkers trip out when they see it for the first time. lol It is heavy but comfortable to use and holds an edge very well. Joerg says it's expensive but it really isn't that bad when you compare it with other professional knife brands, especially for something that size. There's also a "Shogun" version Crixus like a santoku/cleaver hybrid with a flatter curve for the edge. It's about 1.5 times the price because it's damascus. Still not bad. I want it.
