It’s great to see all the positive comments on my set up! It’s not big and fancy but it’s as all techs say “a work in progress” i just ordered more tool grid attachments to fine tune the organization such as tool grid wrench holders, more socket holders, and lots more.

Do you go around to local shops and ask random techs if they would be willing to do a toolbox tour? I think this is pretty awesome

Some times I do that. I usually just solicit on marketplace - offering a tool in exchange for a tech’s time.

Tool grids area love hate in my book, It looks so clean and dialed in but I can't get over some of the drawbacks but thats a hell of a deal on one! Awesome setup, those Cornwell carts and boxes have been peaking my interest lately 🤘
@ToolBoxTour
@ToolBoxTour Жыл бұрын
I’m curious, what are some of the drawbacks from your perspective? Thanks for watching!
@TalkinTools
@TalkinTools Жыл бұрын
@@ToolBoxTour To start let me just say I feel like there is pros and cons to any organization setup you can find out there. For one is the cost of a tool grid as he stated, he got a killer deal on that kit which is probably like $400-600 normally. For that price point you can buy a lottttt of quality organization products. My biggest gripe about a tool grid is that you are quite literally locked into using what layouts are existing. So if you line your sockets up in a row at some point a socket will be too big to occupy one tool grid hole and then you have to jump to the next hole, creating a gap in your row and spacing out that line of sockets. This is inevitably going to happen again and again as the sockets keep getting bigger. And there is no way to tuck tools closer to one another even though there may be space the option on that screw board doesn't exist. I not here to knock anyones choice on their layout, I absolutely love how a well thought out tool grid looks. But there are instances in my own box where I would not have the space to fit something because it limits you to predetermined positions.
@ToolBoxTour
@ToolBoxTour Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input! I have been in the market for some tool organization systems for my personal box, and there’s just so many to choose from. I will take what you say to heart when I’m getting ready to purchase. 👍
@TalkinTools
@TalkinTools Жыл бұрын
@@ToolBoxTour I've spent a lot of time staring at my drawers and studying the tools I own to make them all fit in my setups as efficiently as possible lol. Every box and tool collection is different so don't just go by my opinion, really sit there and measure things out, move stuff around, and study how it can all fit together and the layout thats best for you will eventually present itself!

@@TalkinToolsI’m a cornwell dealer, and I’ve never had a drawer cost more than $250-$300 at full retail, just for reference. That’s with the board and pieces for 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, and ratchets.

lol tech in the video here, of course I know I can covert in lb to nm and I have but like the above comment that gets old and it’s nice having the right tools for the job. Plus my 1/4 torque wrench is one of my first ones I ever got and it’s from harbor freight
@Pistonstrokes
@Pistonstrokes Жыл бұрын
@@trevorsearcy9788 I get that but I've been using tq wrenches for 18+ years i still can't justify paying for another just just to avoid pulling my phone out and using my calc app in 5 secs. Having the correct tq wrench ranges for your job is more valuable than having 15 of them in different units of measure
