Agree…less likely to have the Amazon luggage stolen. I am strictly a carry-on gal. Years of business travel has taught me how to not overpack but still have smart looking options. You won’t believe me when I tell you I went on a 9 day cruise with just a carry-on suitcase and large tote. Included 3 cocktail dresses with a pashmina that worked with all 3 if I got chilly, 2 handbags 3 pairs of shoes, 2 swimming suits, cover up, multiple short, pants, tops that coordinated with each other, jewelry that could be worn with multiple outfits, skin care, cosmetics, hair brush, curling iron, and 2 hats. To be fair, one outfit, shoes and light jacket was my travel outfit on plane rides and since we were cruising warm weather, clothing was not bulky. My cocktail dresses were of a higher quality fabric, the rest were cotton, cotton blend. Now having said all this..does this happen to you….everything fits so well going, but somehow it doesn’t fit as easily in your suitcase coming back? Lol.

I usually do better on the way back for some reason. I will say if I’m flying and it’s a quick trip I try to only bring carry on just in case they lose my luggage.

Hubby and I went to Paris on a river cruise last April, stayed a total of 11 days with just a carryon and a backpack each. Didn’t want to chance getting luggage lost and we did really well for cool/ rainy/ warm weather. Brought two rain coats, 2 boots and one ballet flats. Hubby brought 4 pairs of shoes 😄😄😄. Told him he didn’t need that many but he wouldn’t listen to me. He only wore 2 of them. Capsule wardrobe was black, white and gray and my pop of color was my scarves. Washed clothes in the sink. Checked the weather and packed accordingly with only one cashmere sweater, 3 light long sleeve tops and 3 short sleeve tops, 1 thin cardigan and 4 pairs of pants. Packed a folded duffel in my hubby’s carry one and a foldable tote in mine for souvenirs. Loved it.

I have been in a hotel three times when evacuation was necessary in the middle of the night. Because of this, I always keep my fine jewelry, purse, keys, and necessary documents in a tote at night, ready to pick up and dash without thinking about it, if necessary. Phone and hotel key card are by the bed and I have shoes easily accessible, too. Also a coat if it’s winter. Hope you never have to use this tip!

I purchased a foldable wet/dry travel bag from Amazon. It fit under my seat and has the luggage strap. I couldn’t believe how much I could fit in that bag. It also had an outside pouch to place my travel documents in. I highly recommend that bag.

The valet is a must have! I originally got mine when my husband passed his on to me and it is a mainstay in my travel stuff. I recently ordered one for my 13-year-old granddaughter when she was staying with me for the week, just to corral her phone and personal items by the bed. She’s sold now, too!

While watching this I ordered the Folding Garment Bag and Valet Trays. They worked to perfection when we went down to our lake home. Funny story- I gave my husband a valet tray for his table next to where he sits on the sofa. Marnie, this guy has 3 1/2 masters degrees, but what to snap where was beyond him! I finally snapped it for him and put all his stuff in it and he loved it. He can lose track of his keys, glasses and wallet, but not now. Thank you for making our lives easier.

I've wanted the MZ Wallace tote for years but couldn't justify the price considering I already have a million travel bags, but I just found a great alternative at Walmart for ~$30! It's the No Boundaries Women's Double Pocket Weekender. For me, the trolley sleeve is the dealbreaker - I am not going to wrestle with a bag flopping on top of my suitcase and the Walmart bag has one! I also got the same quilted crossbody and love it ... just changed out the strap like you.

Check out the info on the ship you will be cruising. We dutifully took our European adapter and multi-plug adaptor on our last cruise--ship was in service less than a year--and there were PLENTY of plugs and USB ports Each side of the bed had a US and 2 USB outlets and the desk had 2 US/4USB as well as one European plug free for us to use as well as those that the TV, tablet belonging to the cruise line, etc. were using. If you are entering the US, you are legally required to have your medications in their original labelled containers. I've never been checked, but.....my pharmacist will provide smaller bottles for a cruise. Again, always take several days or even a week more than you should need as you never know what might happen!

Love the mesh pouches! I keep my vitamins/morning meds in the large one. It’s easy when I travel & I start at my office at 6am 2 days a week so I just throw it in my work bag. I don’t need to pack/unpack it & I use a smaller one for my night meds when I travel. I use the pouches for other things as well but that’s what I use them for on a daily basis - not just travel.

I have a story to share…I used to travel with expensive designer luggage until I was waiting for my luggage in NYC. I saw my luggage on the luggage mover and a man literally pushed me out of the way and grabbed my suitcase. I had quick thinking, grabbed him by his jacket and pulled my bag away from him…not sure how I suddenly got super human strength but it happened. When I got home, I sold my designer luggage and now travel with cheap luggage. I talked to airport security and they said that thieves target expensive luggage as they know people have expensive items in designer luggage that they can sell…either pawn or sell on EBay.

EXACTLY!! I have never understood the attraction of designer luggage. They’re usually heavy, don’t have nearly the amount of features that “normal” bags have and all they do is make you a target. So glad you came out ok!

I love a good car trip as well, and partially due to being able to bring a little more along than jigsaw puzzle packing for a flight. I love the new mirror! And if you're ever looking for mid-point travel bags, check out Lug. I have some old school ones (they are known for prints, but I go for solids) that have held up well for both my husband and me and are super light and organized. I did this and went with my husband for a 3 month stay in Cleveland. We stayed at the Hope Lodge (sort of like a Ronald McDonald house). I took one bag with my laptop, bill paying information, passwords, paper, pens, envelopes: sort of a mini office. I took a portable drying rack for laundry and a collapsible over the door rack to hang extra clothes. I took an iPad to watch Netflix and downloaded our cable app to watch tv. We took our own pillows and a soft quilt or blanket for naps. If you are staying where you can make simple meals, take familiar recipes that you can make to remind you of home. I wasn’t able to concentrate enough to read much but the Kindle app or a Kindle can provide you with books. Bring your Bible if that will help you. Good luck with your child’s transplant. I pray for good health for your family.

Carrie Underwood’s brand, Calia, makes a travel tote that is similar to the ones you showed. It’s quilted, too. I bought one for our vacation to Scottsdale last year and it holds a ton of stuff. I bought another one a few days ago, same style different color. I’m going to test it out on a 17-hour flight to New Zealand in a couple of weeks. These bags are only $60 and can be found at Dick’s Sporting Goods.

I LOVE that little convertible tray. I have never seen anything like it, and never realized how much I need it 😂!
