I volunteer in an elementary school with a fIRST grade teacher. They use iPads for some learning games, and in the art /science class rooms. NONE of them have protective cases, or covers of any kind. I have seen them dropped(Linoleum over cement floors),hit, tossed, and beaten by 6 year old hands that are not yet versed in the "touch" part of touch screen. They range from a few iPad ones, some minis, and a lot of iPad 5-6 models. I have never seen so much as a chip or scratch on any of them, and in this class, I am responsible for the tech gadgets when I am there (teacher is NOT tech minded at all, it`s tragic, but I digress), so I round them up and charge them, never seen any damage...It`s somewhat amazing too. Mine? In a protective case, and treated like the diva it is....

That's just some idiot box designer not knowing what he's doing. A lot of these cheap android devices conflate ROM with storage. It has 16 GB of storage, probably half of which is available to the user. On a more technical note, the eMMC storage (the same kind used in C4 SD cards) in this tablet technically is ROM. The technology was not originally meant to be overwritable, but along the way some clever engineer discovered that by taking a chip designed to operated at 3.3V and brute forcing a short in it at 12V, you could in fact overwrite it.

For necessities like shoes, you have to spend the smallest amount of money you can and save what you would normally spend so you can eventually get a much better pair of shoes. Running an old version of android usually isn't a problem, but if you have a 5 year old iOS device, good luck getting apps to run if Apple won't let you update the operating system. Also, it is far easier to transfer files to an android tablet. No messing around with iTunes and waiting for it to sync, just drag and drop files wherever you want like a flash drive.

YankeeSpirit, by app support you mean the lack of thereof for tablets? And no Google Play? As for iOS, you need to learn that iOS has ditched iTunes 5 years ago. All files are you transferred through third party clouds and services like Google Drive, Spotify, etc. iPad Air that you can get for $150 has support for iOS 12 which is the latest iOS version at the moment, so it’ll run EVERYTHING, which is in itself multiples of what you can get on Android. Plus, you aren’t spending money on something which was built with poorman’s philosophy. Essentially, with an iPad, you are buying an older premium device with solid design, Retina display and customer service.

great video, I would have liked to see more of a variety of sizes and brands that Walmart sells. personally I got a Walmart tablet and use it pretty much only for reading books (pdf, epub, kindle app, and online) well the load time isn't the best reading black and white text works good enough. I also got a smaller screen size and i threw in a old sd card for extra storage.

@@juanmj93 not in my country, $800 for the 6th gen with cellular and our mobile carriers are still supplying it under contract too. Apple restrict the export of their products by region, so no I can't buy in the USA and have it sent here. You can't buy Apple stuff cheap here, even grey imports from Hong Kong are $600 for the ipad 6. Apple is also a lot less flexible than Android as an OS, there are lots of apps I use to watch TV and live sport that isn't available in iOS. As a low end tablet, the alcatel A3 10" sold here as the Telstra Enhanced 10.1 is fantastic and very capable with 2gb ram/16gb rom

I brought my mum a Amazon fire tablet 3 or 4 years ago and honestly it's never broken and Ford her perfectly for her use case. It only cost £100 ish too, was really worth the money.

I bought a Fire HD 8 for about $40 on Black Friday a few years ago, and it was more than adequate. I side-loaded the Google Play store and most apps worked out ok.

I own the 8" Onn tablet and found it to be a OK tablet for $64 dollars (USD). You got to keep in mind your not going to get Louis Vuitton bag quality for $64 dollars. One thing to remember the Onn tablet comes with Android 9 Pie right out of the box. Most tablet's in the $50-$150 dollar price range comes with either Android Nougat or Android Oreo. The Onn tablet supports "Project Treble" which means. It's only matter of time until people figure out how to take advantage of that to install custom android rom's. The downside is the Onn tablet don't support Seamless System Updates.

Why didn't you install the Google Play Store on the Fire tablet? It's not particularly hard though I'm sure most people won't but would expect watchers of LTT to handle it fine if they know about the option.

It's not terrible. Kudos to Walmart for putting together a budget tablet for people who can't afford high end iPads. The biggest probablem is the 2 MP camera and the 2 GB RAM, but that's a problem with the Fire tablet, too. Net-net, I'd call it a wash. Cheers, Doug

Idk, I've been using both the Samsung Tab S4 and S5e and they're pretty nice, feels better than the ipad I used for 2 years but then specs difference and I'm kinda biased towards android. I really don't feel much of the optimisation different between the 2 OS that everyone keeps talking about, though I use my tablet basically like a glorified phone for multi-tasking so that might be why? Not too sure. The ipad pencil is better though not enough to justify the cost diff since I'm oni use it for note-taking.

Wally Tablet has 2Gigs DDR3 RAM and dual band WiFi, and the everyday experience is not that bad...BUT No OTG is a Dealbreaker.

Forgot to mention that other than the dedicated Walmart button, you get a clean Android 9.0. How could they have dropped the ball on OTG...ugh.

You guys should seriously check out the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4...mine is the 4gb/64 gb modell and I payed like 175$ for it...amazing...much better than my Amazon fire
