Papanasam Sivan composed such highly evocative,soulful lyrics set to divine music, for numerous films many of which such as this instance (Sivakavi)were great hits running for years at a stretch in many cinemas.The Brahmin-nonBrahmin feelings,which in gross exaggeration,the DK and the DMK have misused for their selfish goals, were held in check by well-meaning people: how else do you explain MKT a goldsmith or NSK a nonBrahmin by birth,and Sivan a Brahmin worked so harmoniously and successfully?

That was a complete stotram for Devi. Usage of Carnatic music in popular cinema has seen decline over last three decades. We will only see poor parody of remixes of old songs these days, which brings tear to my eyes.

songs of this kind are 100% pure. modern songs are like fast food. it is unpalatable. it seems the quality of our food and music is on a irreversible course of decline over the past 50+ years. i can only thinly hope that the current and future generation look at the past and learn a thing or two and start following them.

MKT was simple. Devotion to God. None of those systems, brahminical or non.

MKT sings Unai kandu (Bhairavi raga),Maanuda janmam (Kamaas), this one (Pantuvarali), Unnai allaal oru turumbu (Saaramathi) and numerous other songs woven in well-crafed Carnatic raaga tunes - in a manner which is certainly outside the range of today's Carnatic musicians, whether you rank them with him under feeling in rendering (Bhaava),or classical purity, divine devotion (Bhakti)(wherever necessary),boldness (Gambheera).

MKT and PS were close. MKT used to say if someone is signing him up for movies, the producer should first connect to PS. Reason why the fake aryan-dravidian took off have many reasons.
